Analogue reverse gear & handbrake

Hi guys,

Just a quick question; do any of the Logitech G2x, Fanatec or Thrustmaster wheels have any kind of analogue inputs other than the steering and pedals? I'm pretty sure they don't, though I understand most sims have a whole separate position on the shifter for reverse while GT5 still, for some bizarre reason, requires a button press which is digital on sim wheels (as far as I'm aware), hardly an accurate simulation of how I use reverse gear... I very rarely slam my foot down on the accelerator while in reverse! The handbrake, too, how do you guys feel about the fact that it's all or nothing whereas with a pad you get pressure sensitivity?

Elite has a hat switch although I think that's digital not analogue.

Can't think of any other option for analogue input on a wheel.
CSP pedals have a handbrake connection on the PCB apparently, what that does is anyone's guess.

GT triangle for reverse is not a good idea.
I remember using my DFGT and trying to steer and hold triangle was a nightmare.

G25/27 has a dedicated gear to choose which is excellent.

Oh of course, I completely forgot about that! I blame it on it being early when I posted this and I was thinking of DFP/GT wheels, as that's what I've got. Thanks for reminding me.

The probem is that without the Hshifter, there's no analog device that could be activated and allow you to use the gas pedal to reverse. Even if you were to use a pivoting rod to actuate a button on a controller, it would still automatically reverse.

Ah, that's not true actually... I have worked out a method that works in theory, but I have yet to try out. I'm going to build it soon to test it because I want to have an analogue reverse on my rig between having a DFP and a G27, I'll post about it here when it's done of course.

Getting back to this a year later I found that it's possible to use the analogue sticks on the DS3 for reverse and handbrake, and it will reverse/brake gradually, not simply 1/0. And of course you can assign two controllers to be controller 1, so you can use both the wheel and the DS3 at the same time. If you then can make a "reverse pedal" and "handbrake" rig out of the DS3 you should be in business.

I don't think you can have two wheels mapped as controller 1 though, because then they would share the same mapping.
