I picked up a USB Video grabber from Lidl last Tuesday, more on impulse than anything else.
It takes a variety of analog signals, so you can connect the DVD player, the video recorder or in my case the PS3. I haven't got a caputre card, and the PC is nearly 8 years old at this stage, so I though tthis would be a cheaper alternative. I had to change the video and sound output on the PS3 to PAL, and I'm using the bundled Cybervideo software to capture the output. It's certainly not HD (replaying the video at fullscreen has a very 80's feel to it!) but for getting video replays off the PS3 for youtube it's passable. It also meas I can use the PC monitor with the PS3

You'll have to excuse the quality of the driving, I just picked a clip at random.

Lower the audio capture volume. MAybe you can mess with the settings to improve video, otherwise It's OK quality.

Seems like ok quality to mee.

How much did you pay for it including all cables needed ?

Do you have alink to the store where you bought it, and do you know if they would ship to other countrys in EU ?

Lidl Are a EU super market chain.
They avoid High cost "branded" products to give out cheaper products to customers.

Sound is well out of sync. This shows you can record to your PC for cheap, but it's not a patch on a Hauppauge HD PVR or similar.

But that sound delay is likely because his 8 year old CPU is over loaded trying to do Windows OS and video capture. Unless his single core CPU is over 2Ghz.
The branded version requires 2 Ghz P4 and windows XP SP3.

Thanks for the feedback folks, audio sync problems appear to be a youtube issue, as my local captured mpgs are synced OK when I play them back through VLC. I noticed that if I try to capture using VLC, or the Amcap software tha tcame with my MinDV, then I gets all sorts of speedingup/slowing down issues, the bundled s/w does a pretty decent job of smoothing it out.

I'd love a Hauppage PVR, but it's out of budget at the moment. I just though this would be a cheap-as-chips solution.

There's a lot of similar products on ebay, for less than the €25I paid in Lidl, but I can't comment on the quality, or what software is included.

Did you upload as .mpg or did the capture software have an upload feature..

I uploaded as MPg, though I can convert to WMV or DIVX avi with the capture s/w.
I'll be playing with it again in time, I've no time at the moment…
