Well.
I am taking a Statistic class for my math requirement in college.
The same class requires you to make a research project with the solely objective for it to have any statistical value.
For that purpose, she gave us the option to pick any topics for our research; and I picked to make a GTP Lap Time Competition.

For this reason I want everybody who wants to participate to please sign up on this thread. Your cooperation will be of great aid for me. I will even make a pie chart, histogram, stemplots and the like of all the posted results.

I am still thinking about the metodology of the project, but so far I am considering the use of Sim Tires. There is going to be only one car to race (picked by me), and I will use some tracks at random. The car will be picked at random too. Dont ask me this right now. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to pick a car at random from the GT3 Dealer section.

So, just post here if you want to participate.

Suggestion:

Compare a specific car at a specific course, have 10 subjects run 10 laps first with t7:s and then 10 laps with t8:s.

10 other subjects run first 10 laps with t8:s and then 10 laps with t7:s

I don't remember what the statistical metod is called but with this you can measure if it is a significant difference between running with t7:s or t8:s, you dont get ingroup flaws like improving skills whe you use a between-group comparison.

About the project content.

I pick car (x)

I will put the settings for the car too. I want everybody to be on the same boat, (when talking about the car settings). I dont want to get results of somebody because he/she was a good tuner; not that it means something bad, but I am trying to avoid the presence of any confounding variables.

I will pick 7 tracks at random, and then I will post their results based on each course. What are those? (t7:s,t8:s) The time sections from a track? I am going to consider that too. Thanks. And for the first time, the graph section of GT3 is going to be of great aid too!

EDIT: You think the majority of the racers here have a sharkport or some sort of replay import device? That would be of great help too. I could pick the data straight from their replays (using the graph feature)

yep, i took a 5 weeks class in inferential statistics for psychologists last spring.

From what I understand you will do something with descriptive statistics?

The example I gave is in inferential statistics when you compare 2 different independent variables (here the tyre compound) and see if there is a significant difference between them.

Oh ok. The project is about using quantitive variables. The class, is sort of an intro to it. We are trying to get data and compare it. From the results, describe the results and possible patterns.

I'll run a few laps if it's not too much work. You might want to cancel the Sim tires though. You're probably scarin' off potential participants. :lol:

About the tires. I think I can bypass that. I am going to do something to make the thread wider to the public.
 
So what exactly is the point of this. We are going to test Going from T7s to T8s and back again and see how it compares.
