Announcement threads.

What if there was a forum for users to make annoucements? Then we wouldn't end up with threads like "I am not so and so" or "I changed my name,"... all things that require no additional comment, but always seem to invite a spamfest and get closed.

how bout make it so you will have the option to close your thread within the fist 5 minutes apon creating it? so you can make the annoucements but not invite spam

They could always add that information to their signatures...

That they could! I think the info should just be added to their signatures as well.

Signatures is a good idea. Better than mine because nobody needs to figure anything out.

Signatures, definitely. However, I would prefer they not mention it at all, as it draws attention to the fact that you can change your name.
