I just spent $900.00 to have a huge maple tree removed from my yard. I have been dealing with this thing for over 8 years. Constant tree sap falling on our cars, tree branches falling on our cars, maple tree seeds landing in everything in my yard, birds crapping on our cars, mold and black dust, and then the leaves in the fall. Just tired of it. Heather and I sat out for 3 hours and watched them cut this thing to the ground piece by piece.
This was the last piece they took. The bottom was about 4' in diameter. The part above this was 6' in diameter.

This stump is the only thing left of the tree. Hmm removing that tree really shows how bad my neighbors garage looks. Maybe I can talk him into painting his garage. lol

Yes we had a conifere beaten down 6 months ago. A lot of hard work for the guys.
It's pretty expensive but for insurance wise taken a company is the best call (if it's not in a forest).
They can also take the stump out with a special digging/shredding machine or you take the chainsaw out and make a banc, or some sitting spot out of it for you and your miss's. (i did it but not with a stumb but with random piece of the tree which was in good condition wood wise)

So the camaro stays clean now?

I've had 2 removed from my yard. Had to pay for 1. The City of Birmingham took the one down in my front yard on the city. My neighbor just had a huge Elm tree removed. $5000!! Glad it wasn't in my yard. It spanned 8 yards when it was healthy

The people that took this tree away came in with $500,000 worth of equipment and took it down within 3 hours. That includes chipping the branches and removing everything. They had a 3 man crew and I could not believe how fast it went.
The Camaro and the Mustang are in the garage so they always stay clean. Its our daily drivers that got pounded by this tree.

Pro tree-removers have to be fast, lol. Our city made it illegal to remove trees. Imagine your maple removal done under the cover of night in stealth mode. I remember when my uncle had to take down his mango tree (his dogs were severely allergic and that damn thing got stuff everywhere). What an operation that was.

I've got a pretty heavily wooded yard, so we've had to take down 3 trees over the years once they begin to creep up on the house.

We just used the chainsaw on them, and then instead of the huge task of removing the entire stump, we just cut them as close to the ground as possible.

Maple trees are a pain in the ass though, I've always got the leaf imprints on my car as our yard is pretty much all silver maples.

I agree. After living around different trees my entire life I have to say for sure that the Maple tree is one of the worst trees to own. Especially one that size. Pine trees are also a huge pain to deal with.
The best news is that I wont have to rake any of the leaves from that tree this fall or ever again!!!

I just had the black locust out front of my house removed this year. I was a little sad to see it go as the guy said it was one of the biggest and oldest in the entire city (you could see it from the other end of the street, almost a km away). It was nice in the summer as it would shade our entire house in the afternoon till dusk, but the thing I don't miss is how it continously dumped dead branches on my roof, and in the fall the tiny leaves got everywhere! I'm still sucking them out from little area's under the hood of my car, which stays clean for more than 5 minutes thanks to the flock of birds and squirrels having to find a new place to hang out and crap.

Luckily for me it was on the city owned section of my front yard, so they had to pay the huge bill to have it removed (they had a boom lift, a huge crane, a massive chipper and a team of 10 guys removing it and it still took 3 hours). The only downside was they wouldn't pay to have it replaced with another tree, only grind out the stump and throw down some grass seed. We ended up replacing it with a Japanese Cherry Blossom afterwards anyways as the lawn/house felt so bare with the tree gone (girlfriends choice, I just made sure it stayed small and didn't have annoying little leaves).

Hmmm shame to remove such a large tree, I would have just invested in a few car covers....
You mean an entire house cover and yard cover? This Maple tree destroys anything under it in requires constant maintenance. The sap creates mold, the tree branches break off and destroy property, the leaves stain anything they touch, the birds crap on everything, the seeds fall and ruin any landscaping. The tree was slowly destrying everything under it year after year. If I had waited one more year my entire roof on my garage would have to be replaced. Car covers would have done nothing to help my house, my plants, my property or my cars. I fought with this tree day after day for over 8 years, it was time to get rid of the source of the problem.

Trees are nice and all, but when one begins invading your house, like this one clearly was...you have to do something about it. If one of those bigger branches ever broke off in a storm or something it could cause some serious damage to his house as well.

It happens around here all the time because it's pretty heavily wooded. It actually happened to my boss this past winter during some heavy winds, a huge branch came right through his kitchen ceiling. We've had one in our yard that was taken down by lightning too, luckily it was pretty far back in the yard, but if it had happened to a closer tree to the house it could have been pretty bad.

Looks like the sap not only stained the clear coat on the cars but it actually ate into it in a few places on Heathers car. So I spent about an hour trying to buff out most of the stain marks. So if you have a Maple tree dont let that sap stay on the car for more than a couple days. It WILL eat into the clear coat.

I'm surprised that with a tree of that size it's roots haven't damaged the foundations of your house!

That much maple wood must have a fair bit of value to someone, did they pay you for it or was the value already deducted from their costs?

can someone give me the name and number of the tree removal service they used to remove a maple from there yard? I don't have a lot of cash so anyone that can help me would be greatly appreciated.

I have a huge sycamore over my drive that I had cut back. I would get rid of it - it rains crap on the cars year round - but taking it doen would just make too big a dent in the look and feel of the property.

M'dad removed a huge Olive Tree a few months ago. As we're gonna plant a vege garden, we need as much free space as possible, and the olive tree was taking up too much nutrients. So he cut it, and as revenge, the bottom of the tree dug into the ground as it fell over and ended up cutting a large gash in his knee. Got three stitches, but shoulda gotten 6. Then the stitcing fell apart and left the wound open, and then about a month later dad got them taken out, and just use steri-strips to hold it together instead. A day later, the wound started to form together .
Doctor's at fault then...
