another great big article from me ;)

If you’re ready to get down, dirty, nitty, and gritty on the latest (and apparently not so greatest) generation of processors used in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, peep Anand’s analysis of some very insider information on the forthcoming systems by an unnamed game developer who’s worked on both boxes. If you’re comfortable making heads or tails of things like processor architecture, branch prediction, pipelining, etc., feel free to knock yourself out with the read, but straight up word on the street is that the Xbox CPU is only about twice as powerful as the 733MHz Pentium III used in the first Xbox in real world gaming situations, and supposedly Sony’s Cell isn’t all that much better. Of course, there are just so many factors in game system bottlenecks—and we’re not the kind of site to get gory on it here—but the bottom line is if you were super enthused about these two new powerhouse systems, prepare to get some of that pi** and vinegar knocked out right quick.

well if this roumer is true then this is a big blow to ps3 and the 360, however i dont think that this is full of truth, but as always i leave this to you to decide and have a chat about.

The article in question was so poor, and got such hostile feedback because of it's idiotic inaccuracies, that Anand ended up taking it offline.

The problem is that Anand is largely associated with the PC game industry, and not the console game industry. So all of his "developer contacts" are PC developers. And PC games run like crap on in-order processors, and they won't take even the slightest advantage of the multi-core setup.

His article was technically accurate, but only from a very, VERY limited point of view. And, in this case, it was the WRONG point of view, since console development is a totally different beast from PC development.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I personally don't believe the article because of they way it is written. :nervous: I am going to believe that the 360's and PS3's processor is really good! :embarrassed: 👍 Until then, I will wait like everyone else and see what they can really do when the next gen is brough out to the world. :embarrassed:

I dont really care what the processor speeds are. As long as they can deliver on what they showed off at E3, Im fine. and besides, its the GPU that matters, not the CPU.

Anonymous developer?

Just like Senior Pentagon Official or High Ranking Inside Source, right?
