With the chirstmas season approaching, I was wondering what e-tailers are the best to shop at and how I can tell if an e-tailer is reliable or dependable. Are there key things to look at when deciding an e-tailer?

I prefer newegg, but the iRiver H320 is cheaper by 15 dollars at eBuyer.com and offers free shipping. also, newegg doesn't sell DVDs. Is ebuyer dependable enough for a major purchase like this? The user reviews are mixed at Froogle.

if it's only a $15 difference, try to compare the shipping options and the shipping costs. They usually vary greatly from e-tailer to e-tailer

eBuyer offers UPS ground for free. Newegg offers FedEX express saver for $5.99. It ends up being $15 cheaper on eBuyer, but I'm uneasy with doing buisness with them because it seems their customer service sucks and if you get the wrong product or something, you're screwed...

Personally, I've always just stuck with the biggies (like Amazon) and the reputable small retailers (like Small Dog Electronics). I'll gladly pay an extra 5 bucks if it means peace of mind – think of it as insurance.

That's what I'd do, but unfortunately, my parents might not like that $15 extra dollars. $310 is a LOT to ask for a christmas present in my family. I may have to just ask for the money and I'll order it myself.
