Not sure if it's been mentioned before but this game needs backfire. I also don't want rev limiters anymore. But that's just me. I'm sure someone with no throttle control will disagree but it selectable option would be nice. Rev too high and you cause engine damage, just the same way how we'll have chassis deteriation.
 
I would really like to have fuel strategy come into play in GT4 (especially on the enduros). I think that would add alot of depth to the game. Also, I can't stand how unrealistic tire wear is in GT3. Nobody goes through tires in 5 laps in real racing. It's just stupid. Tires should last at least 12-15 laps (depending on track length) and that should also be addressed in the next game. While I'm going, you should be able to adjust boost settings in the settings menu just before a race like in GT1. I've never figured out why that useful little featuer got dropped in GT2/3. Lastly, I hope the AI is significantly improved in GT4. Nobody should win a 10 lap race by more than 2 laps.
 
I agree Battle Stage, I would love to see backfire in GT4, that would look sick on the replays. Also, if there could be a way that you could setup the GT4 wheel so it could be configured to work without the pedals. ( like setting the buttons on the wheel to gas and break.) Just my 2 cents.;)

Yes, I indeed saw that somewhere else, though I didn't know it was you that said it. A good idea nonetheless, regardless of it's origin.
 
Edited:its Overburn or backfiring, which is excess fuel being forced out the exhaust port and burnt in the exhaust system.

P.S why wouldnt you want a rev limiter?
Street cars yes i can understand as they pull through the rev range much slower than a hard tuned race car, which could easily break traction and blow through the rev range in an instant, especially when racing on the edge.
This is why All modern race cars have limiters to protect costly engine damage, and usually revs beyond the limiter are lower powered, as engines are usually tuned to benefit the rev range.
Maybe being able to modify the limiter settings would be better option to give you a slightly higher limit if you prefer.
 
In fairness with the rev limiter idea he did say to have an option for it to be on or off. That pic is a photoshop, as for the backfiring, no one says did you see that car turbo overrun, they still all call it a backfire but I know what you mean.
 
Everyone I know refers to it as Overburn.
and everybody i Know would think of a clapped out Ford Sierra, ex mini cab with 180,000 miles on it without having a service for 3 years when they hear a car backfiring in the street:lol:

P.S Damn if that picture was shopped, where did they get the background source pic from cause that track/view hasnt been seen before(has it) and the mountainside looked great.
 
Backfires would be cool.Maybe also,at certain revs & load on the engine have a slight vibration and resinence on the actual exhaust pipe...like in reality.This would be a nice touch espesially on some of the older vehicles.

The Backfire and overburn is probably down to where I live then, I've seen that pic on a different site before without the flames, if I see it I'll post it here.
 
That pic looks fake to me, still could be wrong.

I always call it backfire, just coz its fire & it comes out the back :lol:
 
The so called "Back-Firing" should be only limited to Rally cars and a Few high powered LM Cars, I beleive..
 
BTCC cars do it, my mates go kart does it all the time, I don't think it's limited to certain cars, any car can do it, you may have to mod it a little but it's possible in a Mini if it's tuned.
 
You should watch an Australian V8 Supercar race sometime. The cars shoot out flame like a flamethrower, after the "Backfire" happens. Try that PD!

^a lot of rally cars use an "anti lag" system, which essentially keeps the turbo spinning, through the use of unburnt fuel. this gets shot out the exhaust in a flame. (this is a very GENERAL description so dont jump down my throat if im a little off)

the rest is just unburnt fuel being shot out of the exhaust as u all know. these would be VERY welcome additions.
 
No....a lot of cars dont use an 'anti-lag' system, because that really messes up the turbo and exhaust system. Rally cars do, but it rips up the inside like crazy.
 
from the videos i have seen and screen shots GT4 WILL have fuel compsumption hopefully if they dont decide to take it out

That's a misfiring system which is different from backfire since it's intended to happen. Also in this case it happens when you let off the gas, not when you step on it. And yes it does harm to the turbo so most people wouldn't use it.
 
i was pointing to zee's post. im well aware that only rally cars use it, as u can pretty much vouch on regular turbine wheel replacement. and its called "ant lag" dude, a lot of expenisive managment systems have capabilities for this. i never stated that this backfiring, becuase its not.

the flame out the exhaust is due to fuel being pumped thru the sytem after the throttle has been closed, "valve overlap", all race cars use high druation cams which allow this.

read carefully before dismissing.
