Ok so Ive seen a ton of threads on this site and others talking about the G27 and the fanatec wheels. However I haven't found any real answers. My G25 finally took a crap the other day after years of abuse. I need to find a replacement but have no idea what to buy. Not gonna pay for a T500 so that leaves the G27 and the fanatec GT3 RS. So I know what im getting with a G27, an overall great wheel, great reliability, customer service, ect. So most of my questions are about the GT3 RS.

I have some very real concerns about reliability and customer service, as one can clearly see by spending five minutes on this board. I am willing to gamble with that if the wheel is that much better. I tried out a friends Carerra wheel and really wasn't that impressed. I liked the overall construction of the wheel. The feedback felt really good but the wheel felt sluggish and it did not center or return nearly as fast as my G25. This is probably my biggest concern. With my G25 when oversteer occurs I can just let the wheel spin just as I do in a real car. I could not do that with the Carerra. Is the GT3 any better. My biggest selling point with the GT3 is the clubsport pedals, those things look incredible. So is this wheel that much of a step up from the G27.

So I really don't know. I know this topic has been pretty much beat to death and I am sorry dragging it on even longer. I just haven't been able to find the answers Ive been looking for. Thanks for the input.....Cheers

Myself, I'd get the GT3RSv2 w/CSP. You've done the G series thing, you liked it, and the G27 is more of the same, more of an evolution than a revolution. With the G27 you get a complete package, with the GT3RSv2 you get tuneability, and upgradeability (via Clubsport accessories and firmware) and I'm sure you'll get used to the feel of the new wheel soon enough.

As for service? Well, it doesn't seem to be Fanatecs strength.

The G27 does have a few uogrades and one downgrade from your G25 tho... You lose the sequential shifter, but gain a better feeling H shifter, the paddles are better, you get more buttons, and slightly better pedals. That's pretty cool.

Also keep in mind, if you call Logitech and inquire about G25 repair, they seem to be willing to throw people 50% off G27's, so if you do decide to stay Logitech, they do make it worth your while.

Just called logitech and they did offer me a new G27 at half off. I am really suprised, I cant say enough about that company. I broke my old DFP wheel and they replaced that no prob also. So I guess that made my decision very easy. Thank you very much for the heads up.....

You can still have a sequential shifter with G27 in any game that allows you to map the shifter (sadly not yet in GT5). All you need is two-three rubber bands. The ring at the top of the shifter boot is just the right size that when held down by the rubber bands is will only allow the shifter to move between third and fourth position.
P.S I find it's amazing they let you have G27 half price with a broken g25 you've played for years. That says a lot about Logitech.

how do you get this half off deal? Can I just pretend like I have a broken G25? Do I need to give them a serial number or something?

They asked for serial and part numbers. I have also had a logitech online profile since 2004 and have registeted many products with them, that may also have something to do with it.

How bad did your wheel break? Aren't the G25 pedals compatible with the GT3? If so that might make it an even sweeter deal as the CS pedals are supposedly the best but G25 pedals aren't bad and would be better than the base pedals from Fanatec I would think...

It was actually my pedals that broke

I was under the impression that Logitech required the broken part to be returned.

I assume Logitech is able to offer this deal, because the reduced price for the wheel set actually represents the price they would sell it to to a retailer. In other words, they are making their usual profit but cutting out the reseller.

wow, logitech is awesome for doing something like that.. congrats on your new g27, i cant wait to get mine!

Guys, i'm thinking of upgrading my g27 pedals, what would you recomend, a CSP or the perfect pedal for g27?

Perfect pedal will work on ps3. CSP with g series wheel won't. I think lol.

Question.
The return to centre effect on the GT2. Is it similar or better than the G27?

Yeah, they verify you own one. Please don't get all schemey and screw this awesome service up because you can't bring yourself to pay full price, hell, you can always get it for at least 20% off thru the website, just buy a cheap Logitech ANYTHING and register it and they give you a 20% off code.

Actually i don't know cuz i never used a GT2, but for me, and i know this will cause panic, G27 is the best wheel ever, not because of it stock performance but because the mods it let you make, will turn this will the best in market.
