HI, I'm in the market to buy another racing game for the PS2, and was just wandering if there aer any good ones out there besides GT3(witch is the god of all racing games) I was thinking about either Test Drive overdrive or Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2:D

I think WRC II can be a very good driving experience, check out my review (in the review forum) for more details. V8 Supercar Race Driver (aka Pro Race Driver in the US, TOCA Race Driver in Europe) I have also reviewed, and I think it is also quite a good game...👍 There are lots of good racing games for the PS2, so I'd recommend renting the ones you think you'll like. :)

Try Burnout. It's kind of silly, but a lot of fun at the same time. With the release of Burnout 2, Burnout is like 20 bucks.
24 hours of LeMans is also good, but has very slow load times.

Don't get Auto Modelista. My friend beat it under 10 hours. It's only good for it's multiplayer.

Try Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero. Extremely fun game.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero is old...Auto Modelista...You'll never have a funner multiplayer game in your life...asside from maybe Halo 2

Auto modellista was ok for two days...after that it was easy as...and quite boring for me...didn't try multiplayer though, as i only rented it.

I hate NASCAR games but was really impressed with dirt to daytona. I also liked World Of Outlaws it was great but WoO doesent support the FFwheel. DtD does it's awesome. I might think its so good though because I used to race dirt cars.

Two words ...

KAIDO BATTLE !!

This game is like Gran Turismo on acid. Believe me, after playing this game, hairpins will never look the same to you again :trouble:

NFS:HP2!!!

It's good on single player and the best for multiplayer fun.
If you have tried the pc version don't judge this by it. PS2 version was made by another team and it's much better.

I'd say all of the games recommened so far are all good, I would rent them all, and pick the one I liked best. Or you could buy all of them. I did.

F355 The Arcade is amazing....it's almost as good as wangan midnight..much more realistic, but just isn't as "Fun" as wangan midnight..GREAT game though...
:love-paddle-shifting: :D

F355 The Arcade is much better than the Arcade of Wangan Midnight. With the actual clutch, and the most realistic driving of any simulator that I have ever played on. I don't think it would be the same playing on a console

It's not as fun as the arcade version, but still fun. ;)

The PS2 version also looks worse than the old Dreamcast version (which looked exactly like the arcade version) which is an achivement in itself. I'd rather play F355 at the arcade, or if I had a steering wheel at home.

Automodelista is ok, but the european version licks balls bigtime mainly because it has no online play. Also i've heard that the Online play is just full of wallriders (I don't know this i'm just going on what I have heard from other people).

Pro race driver is ok, well if you aren't easily frustrated. Also some of the earlier cars handling is a bit suspect. Also the graphics are a little ropey in comparision to GT3.

WRC is easy but a good fun, WRCII is even better with more realism and harder AI. IMO WRCII is better than colin mcrae 3, but I don't think it's out in America yet.

Gil mentioned Burnout and burnout 2, these are really fun arcade games, but not simulation. Still it's very good fun driving into traffic with your NAWWWWWZ.

Yay I said NAWWWWWZ.

Raceidiotz..I heard about the UK and other versions....Auto Modelista is one of the first japanese games in which America get's the best version..We have 3 more courses 8 more songs..And like 5-6 more cars....And the online feature..And as for the wall riding thing...I've only seen someone do that to the extreme once or twice, and they still came in 5th.

f355 for ps2 with a momo force wheel is very enjoyable. I am not one who cares about pretty graphics much, as long as the gameplay is great.

What makes the game so good for me is that it has a system implemented into the game taht makes you fear touching the other cars. Basically if you touch another car you can expect to spin, hit the barrier, or something else that will put you in last place. I think this is very good, it may not be realistic in the way it deals with contact, but it keeps the racing clean and nerve wrecking. To give you more confidence in what the other cars are doing there is a grid at the top of the screen that shows exactly where close cars are in relation to you.

Some say the physics are unrealistically difficult, maybe they are, but i like them as well. I think the need for trail braking, lockup free threshold braking (no ABS) and the consequences of abrupt weight transfer might be overdone a bit in the game, but i like that it requires you to be very precise. unlike in gt3 I like how trail braking is necessary, and how if you all of a sudden snap off the throttle mid corner there is a consequence (sliding).

All this helps the adrenaline rush through my body while racing. As you come up behind someone before a corner, you see you are within inches on the grid at the top of the screen, you know that if you lockup and ram him from behind you will spin, if you make any contact with him at all through the corner you will spin, and if you snap off the throttle because you ***** out while trying to carry max speed through the corner you will spin.

It may not be the most realistic, but these aspects make it a hell of a lot more fun than gt3 for me. gt3 is too easy.

How the hell do you calibrate the MOMO in F355?
As when I plug my MOMO on the PS2 it disables the pad in F355 and I can't move up/down in the menus with the MOMO.

you cant?> It is kind of a pain in the ass navigating menus withthe wheel. but i use pedals, paddles and all that ****, it works fine.
