Are u serious?
Was browsing through some car sites and saw this monster... an SL65 Black Series tuned by Brabus... Which means you can be assured of crazy specs and a nice stealthy black paint job.... Not sure what the function of that bulge on the hood is... couldve left that out imo...

When thinking of the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series, it’s only natural to think of a model that exemplifies the tuning prowess of AMG. Straight from the factory it’s capable of hitting 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and 124 mph in 11.0 seconds before achieving a top speed of an electronically limited 198.8 mph. For most, that’s plenty of power; but for an unknown Middle Eastern SL65 AMG Black Series owner, it was just the starting point.

He took the consummate model to BRABUS, where they worked the same tuning magic they do on every other Mercedes and applied it to the SL65 AMG Black. The end result is a said bump in power of some 130 hp – taking the SL65 Black’s standard 670 hp to the 800 hp mark. Larger turbos, a new gearbox, larger brake pads and an upgraded exhaust system are attributed to making it all possible.

As for the result of the power boost, BRABUS hasn’t quoted specifics, but it likely shaves a few tenths off the acceleration times while removing the speed limiter likely bumps top speed well into the 200+ mph range. If additional details are revealed, we’ll keep you updated; in the meantime, check out more photos of the BRABUS VANISH Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series in the gallery below.

Finally someone took care of this underpowered car. 👍

I foresee a certain Topgear commentator approving on this one, too …

I doubt it, unless they put in a folding roof, more comfortable seats and a tighter steering rack. Those were his gripes about the standard (pah!) one.

Awesome looking car though - although I reckon they could have gotten more power out. 👍

Nice find. It looks like it’s been tastefully done apart from that circus tent on the bonnet! It does prove enough is never enough but they probably could get more out of it without going to too much trouble. It also further proves all cars should have a matte black paint option.

Blitz187 that is a beautiful car but I saw this and in my dreams would love to have this.

^^^^^Definitely a nice car as well , but a different league since its a racecar ;) I like the Brabus except for the buldge in the hood... Unless its functional, it just looks ugly...

Looking at the engine it doesn't look like it would be used for anything the buldge in the hood that is.

This is the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3. Mercedes says it's a 'spectacular racing car for the sporting customer'.

Yes, it's available to buy. The road-going SLS supercar has just gone on sale, but this version takes the car to another level entirely. Built to compete in the GT3 racing class, anyone with the time, talent and money can buy a place on the grid.

The SLS GT3 goes on sale in autumn. We don't know how much it will cost, although Mercedes claims it offers a 'comparatively favourable cost structure'. The Porsche 911 GT3 R costs £250,000, to give you an idea.

Built due to 'strong customer demand', the GT3 is wider than the production SLS and has a new front splitter and adjustable rear wing. There are vents in the wheel arches, as well as a rear air diffuser and a smoothed out underbody so that it cuts through the air with ease.

There's no word on the power output yet, but that's because the FIA - racing's governing body - has to approve the figure so that all competing cars are evenly matched. For the same reason, the weight isn't set yet.

Power goes through a six-speed sequential racing gearbox with paddles, and the suspension is fully adjustable. The wheels are lightweight, and the brakes are upgraded too.

In the cabin, an open top racing wheel and single digital display stand out in a carbon-fibre rich cabin. The screen can show all kinds of information, including lap times. There's even an integrated fire extinguisher that's operated by a button on the centre console. And, of course, a full roll cage.

Wasn't aware Darth Vader apparantly residing somewhere in the Middle-East these days but this is why you have to admire the sheer wantonness of Brabus, tuning even those Mercs you wouldn't concieve needing any more power.
It's like giving Schwarzenegger an extra dose of steroids and further prove that money may actually indeed buy you anything.
Wonder what they'll have up their sleeves for the SLS AMG................

That car doesn't belong in this thread. It already has its own.

The forthcoming SLS 'Black Series' is going to use the SLS GT3 bodywork according to someting I read on Autocar.

^^^ Oh man if they make a Black Series SLS, my jaw will drop to the ground...
I think Brabus will come out with some form of SLS soon too :D Would be interesting to see what they do with it... Imagine an SLS with 800 HP... This thread is drifting a bit off topic though, just as a reminder we were discussing this car originally :p

It's definitely an Autobot judging by that bonnet symbol bulge, no question.;)

Wouldnt be surprised if it showed up in the next movie :sly:

It's stuck on there like an afterthought, isn't it?

Thats what I thought as well... I think it would look a lot better if it wasn't there... There's no apparent function to it either I believe.

Regarding the original post... I struggle to get excited about this car. The original is already stupidly fast, and matt black wraps are so 2009.

And WTF is up with the stuck on bonnet thing?

Ah crap, even my taste in car colours is sooooooo last year ;)

^^^ No worries... I will love matte black til the day I die... although I do agree its been done to death the last year... :p
