Hi everyone.
I have recently decided that instead of building a computer, I am going to buy a decent laptop to play games on, (I'm not looking for max settings or highest resolution, just something that will run them will do fine). That way I can sit downstairs with my family and play games rather than in my room ( they are always on about being more social lol)

So yeah, my budget is £800. I have found this: http://www.ebuyer.com/350096-samsung-550p5c-laptop-np550p5c-s03uk

It's got an I5 dual core and a nvidia gt650m GPU with 2 gb of memory (GDDR3 though). Benchmarks of the cards look good, it can play BF3 on medium to high settings, so I'm going to assume it will run Iracing and R factor 2 and the like (although the benchmarks are with an I7)

I could either get that, or, I could go with an I7 quad core laptop and a GT640m. Which do you reckon I could get more performance in games from, the quad core CPU and the lesser GPU or a higher GPU and only a dual core CPU? I cannot find the best of both ( I7 and GT 650m). Atleast not on the websites I've been looking at.

Any other suggestions for laptops are very welcome, I will be buying next week probably once all my exams are over.

Thanks guys.

My bad, I think I copy/pasted the wrong tab.

The laptop you posted has a really low screen resolution. That GPU is good for nothing if the screen isn't good enough.

Here's a recommendation

Testers seem to like the GT540M more than the 640.

It's the normal resolution for a laptop it's size. Perfectly useable in gaming. His laptop choice has a GT650M 2GB GPU. The GPU uses less energy while still providing more performance. He would get more performance from a more powerful GPU and stick with an i5 CPU. Honestly if it can play Battlefield 3 in medium then you will have no problems in iracing(reference this video. Really no difference vs having a dual core or quad core. You should note that the i5 is a dual core with hyperthreading).
