So I just loaded up GT5, mainly to keep my daily login bonus going, and noticed that the game acted like I had just started a new game. After looking at my game save data, I realized my GT5 data had been corrupted. I was at a total loss for words, as this was the main account that I'd been working on for almost a full year.

Luckily, I had pulled out the trusty thumb drive about 10 days ago and did a backup on it, which I hadn't done in at least a few months. So I'm only out about 75 cars, roughly 1million EXP points (dammit I was working on LVL 40 A-spec) and had tuned a couple dozen cars since my last backup.

I'm not completely sure how this happened, as the corrupted file shows the last save/acces was last night at 22:30 (when I saved my last login), but all I can think is that maybe the game got stuck while saving and I turned off the PS3 without noticing what was going on.

At least I don't have to start over, but I'm really hoping that a few of the last 75 or so cars still show up in the UCD... I had found a good few that I'd really wanted for the past few months.

I would bet that's exactly what happened. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to actually start loading, more than usual. I almost shut it off before it was done saving myself.

That's not one biting the dust at all.
I deleted my GTP save entirely - twice now, it's cool though.

I lost 4 months of GT recently. It was pretty annoying as I'd been grinding the Ferrari seasons had to buy stuff like Miura and all the Japanese GT cars. It corrupted my Demon's Souls save as well but screw that damn game!

Back up all the time boys and girls.

No doubt , back up your system. RLOD Friday night. No back up , everything gone. I was at 99% completion. Only had the last 24 hr race to do. I had put it off till the endurance save feature was available. :/

The cars will still appear on the same game dates as before.

Consider yourself lucky. Always look at the bright side, it's not a disaster.

I've stopped playing GT5 for the moment, although previously I backed up the game save data to a portable device weekly, it's a good habit to get into.
