Another stupid wheel question

Okay so sorry for another wheel question but I'm quickly finding buying a new wheel the biggest chore that I never wanted to do. I'm considering just keeping my old wheel and dealing with it, rather than hunt down something better.

So, everyone recommends the G27 for obvious reasons; I actually like the G25 wheel too but BOTH these wheels are impossible to find in stores, and you more or less have to go to amazon.com. There are NONE on craig's list and people are asking too much for them on ebay. Why the heck does no one sell these in stores? Even gamestop doesn't keep them in stock nor does bestbuy or radio shack or any other store that stocks logitech items. Absolutely ridiculous that these are so hard to buy.

As for the DFGT I really don't want to pay money for a newer version of what I already have. All DFGT has is better force feedback and a sequential sports shifter, which...who cares about sequential shifting. And I'm not really that hyped up on the physics realism dial. I can live with my decisions for a few laps.

So. If I'm going to order online anyhow, is there a more affordable wheel with h-gate shifter/clutch that works with GT5? Or is G27 the only option (since G25 is apparently MIA)?

Bottom line the virtual steering wheel industry is a pain, and at this point I can't play Gran Turismo without one.

So waddaya think?

i wouldn´t go for a g25. if it´s a logitech, go for the g27 mate. i got mine from amazon, too. they deliver quick, so you´re not going to wait long :)

+ logitech has a great customer service, i can tell you :)

Go for the G27. It's newer and it's not as loud as the G25 when turning

The only thing the G25 has over the G27 is the sequential shifter.

Thanks guys. What about this Porsche wheel that is like $150 and has h-shift. Worth it?

I can only comment on the fanatec porsche turbo S wheel, but for what its worth, I love it!

For those who use fanatec products in the US--do you have to order directly from their website? Is there a distributer in the US?

A few good choices you have out there. It´s no wonder you won´t find the G25 in the wild, cause officially it isn´t produced any more by Logitech. The G27 is its younger brother and surely at least similar to it. Only exception is sequential gearing mode, which has been stated already here.
I herad just good things about the Fanatec Porsche, since its belt-driven (in difference to the G25/27´s gear driven) the FFB is quite powerful in it. And as I know it has 3 of those FFB motors whereas the Logitech´s have 2 of them.

In the end, it´s your decision. With those mentioned, you wouldn´t make a mistake by choosing either of them :)

edit: Don´t even think the G27 wouldn´t shake you enough. I´m running FFB on 5 (G25) in GT5 and sometimes even that is too much :)

G25 has H, secuential and padles, G27 has secuential and padles.

What i think he meant to say is that the G25 used to have a 6speed gearleaver which you could also set to sequential AND sequential behind the wheel (flappy paddles)

The G27 does not have the 6speed gearleaver; it only has the sequential leaver and the sequential behind the wheel (flappy paddles) ; So Pay2021 was right..

@Paulus: sorry mate but you failed on this. Course has the 27 the H-shifter layout. It definitely LACKS the switch to use the H-shifter as sequential like used in WRC´s. So only thing it has are the paddles (which wou could call "sequential") behind the wheel.

Where now the 27 has the "Logitech" button, the 25 has the switch for choosing between H-layout and sequential back-forth.

So still thinking who´s right? ;)

Does the Porsche wheel with H-pattern gearing and clutch really come at $160 price tag? If so it's a no-brainer for me, who is poor. :)

Also still wondering: if you have to order fanatec products directly from fanatec, who only accepts paypal for payment?
