Any cars that you just never seem to win?

For me, there is one car that the random prize car selector just never picks. Its the Mazda RX-7 LM Edition. No matter how many times i do the AL Dream Car Championship i always seem to get the other three. I've never done the 'save game and select your car' cheat because i'm not the sort of person who likes to cheat like that. Anyone else have a car that they just can't win?
 
Are you guys using the save game trick? It makes re-attempts much easier. I've got a whole bunch of each of those cars by virtue of using the save game trick.

Basically you run the first bunch of races, score enough points to not need to run the last race, save before the last race, then cancel out of the last race and get your prize car. If it's not the one you want, reload your game and repeat cancelling the last race until you get the car you want.

Of course, to get multiples of the same car you either have to run the race again or have two memory cards.
 
He says in the first post that he doesn't use that.

But on the subject of tricky cars to accquire, my blaming finger points towards the TVR Speed12

This is not in any way a "cheat". It's efficient use of your time.

Yeah I didn't see that. Sorry (: And I agree with MasterGT. Not using this is like starting over on a First Person Shooter when you die because you don't want to use your save game to its full advantage. I quick-save before I do anything dangerous in an FPS. This is the same thing.
 
And why is there that stupid random prize car at the first time.
They should allow you to select your car prize or the prize cars should always come in the same order.
 
For me, it is the Tom's X540 chaser. I had to try it 11 times just to get it once. I used the save trick, though. There is also the Camaro race car. I think that you should be able use the save trick in endurance races. Sometimes, I will be trying for the F1 car in a race, and I get the worst car possible.

omg, same here. RX-7 LM Edition. RAH! i got that altraza, S2000, and STi LM edition, but not rx-7. :grumpy:

huh? red subaru..? with ROUND headlights? aren't all STi in GT3 have round headlights..? are you talking about LM one? or just normal red STi?

Sry took so long, don't have access to internet everyday. But yeah the normal one, I'm talking about the latest one in the game. The one that has body stlye of the 22b you can also get in red but, i aquired that one pretty easy, at first i was like wtf?? I have a red STi!!!! lol.
 
For me, would be the Tickford XR8. Every time I do the Super Speedway Endurance, I end up getting the Corvette C5R. I know you can buy it, but I want to win it.
 
For me it was the Volkswagen Lupo, it took me forever to get it! :grumpy: But I finally got it and i realized I can go around Apricot Hill Raceway in it, flooring it the whole time, except for the last corner before the finish. :sly:
 
I have gotten all cars in 2 games. They all come out at different times and in different random patterns. In one game the car that came out first was the car that was hard to get on the other game and vice versa.
 
I've said this many times so I'll say this again as I think I'm the only person in the world not to have an F1 vehicle.
 
It took me three or four tries to get the RX-7 LM. My game has the dislikable habit of giving me Vitzes when available, too...

I've been told that you tend to get the better cars if you run a "fairer" race... i.e. if you come out a lap ahead of another car, that's not fair, so it's not going to reward you so much with a nice car. Is there any truth to that?

I can't get the Tom's Chaser either, and I want it.

Chaps, this topic (i.e. How Random are the Prize Cars?) has been done to death so many times in the past ... still, it's not been chatted about for a while so ... LOL.

The general upshot of previous discussions is that the cars are indeed assigned randomly but there may be slightly different weightings to some over others or it might be that the random number seed the game generates at the start might also influence car selection.

Despite the fact that it took me SEVENTEEN attempts to win the Speed 12 in the Tuscan Challenge, I still believe that the cars are supposed to be dished out randomly and that the random number seed theory is the best explaination for why, in some peoples games, a given car is a nightmare to win.
 
The F687/S. Still the only prize car I haven't won. I just don't have time to race the Formula GT Series again (35-50 minutes per race, including qualfying, setup, and breaks).

Hmmm...always had trouble getting the Speed 12 from the Tuscan Series; but never had much trouble getting it from the Polyphony Cup (it always seems to be the first car it awards, for some reason).
 
LOL. sorry to tell you but im sure i got the RX-7 LM first shot, and i dont even own gt3.( borrow drifterdans ps2 and gt3, alot). Funny though, i m a FC3S fantic, and i didnt even know you could win the LM rx-7. BUT, its not the greatest car unless you like to grip drive, quite the dissapointment for me, so back to the good old Trueno SS and FC for me. If you dont have the RX-7 LM, i really wouldnt bother so many times to try get it.

Though, when i think bout it, after doing ALOT of endurances, I really dont get the Polyphony F1 much, but hay, I hate that car anyway lol (course i dont normal classify it as a car).

I don't get it, are you talking about the Subaru LM ? ( the Subaru Cuzco from the JGTC300 serie in GT2 ). The Subaru LM prize I won is white and it's a great car for both asphalt and rally.

I don't get it, are you talking about the Subaru LM ? ( the Subaru Cuzco from the JGTC300 serie in GT2 ). The Subaru LM prize I won is white and it's a great car for both asphalt and rally.

The Cusco Impreza in GT2 is a GT300 class car and was FR with 300hp. The Subaru Impreza LM in GT3 is a fantasy car with 600hp and 4WD.

The bugeye Subaru Impreza STi road car can indeed be won in GT3.
 
Can it be won on PL GT All Starts Championship? I noticed there is an Impreza there, though i can't tell from the name whether its the bugeye version or not.

Oh, and to all the people who found the Speed 12 hard to win, i won it on my first and only attempt at the Polyphony Digital Cup. :D

I didn't know the Cusco is a FR car, thanks for the info. I thought all Subaru were 4WD.
I fired GT2 on my dreamcast ( using Bleemcast ) but I don't have the Cusco in my garage. Another good reason to enter the GT300 championship again and try to get that Cusco.

From " The Gran turismo 3 A-spec official perfect guide " bonus cars list, the Subaru Impreza LM race car can be won in the amateur league Dream car championship while the Pro league Gt all star will get you the Impreza WRX STI sedan.

I paid $20 for that guide when I purchased GT3 but it doesn't have much information, I shouldn't have purchased it but hey, I was naive at that time , I didn't know about Gt Planet :)
