Any current/former "Driving Force" wheel owners...please look.

Here's the story:

I bought a "Driving Force" wheel a couple of months ago when they first came out. I had some trouble with it. Specifically, the select button didn't work and the shifter paddles would stop working during hard turning or braking. Made the game a touch more challenging than it should have been! I returned the wheel for a new one - same symptoms. I returned it for a refund...which is too bad, I really liked the way it felt.

So, I have heard of some people having this same problem. Others have had no trouble whatsoever. I have this hypothesis regarding this problem; it has to do with the age of the PS2.

I bought my PS2 from the first wave to hit US shores. Basically, I want to know:

- When did you buy your PS2?

- Did you have any trouble with the wheel?

I think there may be different drivers in newer PS2s...just a hunch. :)
 
I have the GT3 badged Logitech wheel, part of the first batch that hit Australia in August/September 2001.

I've had no problems with it all.

The only glitch I've noticed is on WRC - I can't change gears while the handbrakes on...

I bought my PS2 in December '00.
 
I got my PS2 in december 2000, and I have not had any probems with it.

I must add though that I use the pc version of the logitech wheel, because of the reviews on the net. There obviously seems to be a lot of people having problems with the newer "driving force".

I suggest that you get the RED pc wheel. Or the older GT wheel. (The one without all the PS2 buttons.)

I got the PC wheel for about half the price of the PS2 one, and you might be lucky too! :D
 
I bought my PS2 in... late October and in Decmber bought a wheel. I have had the no shifting while turning or braking but everything else is sweet! :D
 
I bought My wheel in the Fall, and my PS2 the first day. I haven't had any problems with either unless you count a noisy CD when Standing upright spinning PS2 CD's (not the DVD's.)
I have heard that some people with that problem had luck by unplugging their PS2 Dualshock/s. See if that works for you. :)
 
I bought my PS2 February 2001, and the Logitech wheel (does not have the GT3 badge in the center of the wheel)October 2001...I haven't noticed any problems yet. Hopefully I wont.

Oo, that's a good idea. Too bad I returned my wheel a long time ago.

Hey, maybe that's the problem...people who have trouble probably left their DS2s plugged in. 💡
 
bought my ps2 the first day it was available, got the wheel couple months later (maybe three). have noticed the shifting problem while turning. usually does not let you shift at all, which is a bummer, considering the price, and all the great reviews.
 
Hey, welcome to the board! What kind of Integra do you have? Got an FBP 98 RS, meself. :)

So have you tried unplugging the DS2 while playing GT3 with a wheel? Did it make any difference?
 
i have a 91 LS integra, which is dead right now. i am rebuilding the engine, going LS/vtec, should be done in about a month.

i hav enot tried to unplug the DS yet, i'll give it a try when i gett home. :D
 
Cool...LS/VTEC can be a pretty mean combination, but make sure your bottom end is built well! If it isn't...well, you'll know when your pistons jump out of the hood. :nervous:
