dont use the hand brake. Only use the hand brake if you going to head straight into a wall..then you can hit it side ways and not worry about baking up. If you want to drift just use the regular brake. And decrease your asm.
One of the best drving tips is to apply straight line braking. I.E. dont turn and brake at the same time, drifting may look good but it hurts yer laptimes.

Not always. Drifting comes from an imbalance of the various applications, steering, throttle and brakes. Proper trail braking can work quite well. It also helps with weight tranfer and traction. Some corners may respond better to different techniques.
The main problem with trying to drift is that the game, in my opinion, is not as responsive to correction as it should be, sometimes too responsive one might say. But one trick i read was to down shift 2 gears at some point during the slide, works ok. you should also try different aproaches to the corner.
I love drifting around harpin 180's, not in cities tho. And it seems to make me go pretty fast. Of course you need a car that can tourue it way out of a drift.
I know what ya mean I have actually set quite a few laptimes with the back end going a bit funky. But you must admit a full opposite lock job is pretty harmfull for the laptimes.
try taking a zo6 to seattle and taking off driver aids, i've never gotten a full lap with successful drifts. haven't mastered the first turn. i did get a drift with one of the concept cars in the first turn once, however.
yeah I know it also depends on the track. That tack is designed for drifting, I love the bit after that long wide straight where I brake as late as possible and then do a huge slide ove the bump and bring the back out again for the next corner.
it depends on the forward momentum of the slide, how much speed it loses, and the acceleration through the turn of the counter method. it is surely not good if the slide is too lateral with no forward progression.
Boooo I hate drivers aids they just get on my nerves, that was the first thing if figured out how to turn off the asm and tcs. Did you know all the computers drive with at least the TCS on
no i didn't. i like them in cars like the gt1, but that's it. aids just add too much understeer, and the game already understeers for no logical reason, why enhance it?
If you watch a replay of a race and turn on all the speedos and stuff you see the ASM and TCS lights flashing on the computers cars. And another thing ive never seen a computers car have the oil light go on!
oh I get ya yeah I like to muck around on the test course and muck around and do 180s and donuts and that thing where you do s 180 and reverse it back another 180 and hit the accelerator and scream away that looks sooo cool
I was going to say that the oil light never comes on in the computer cars. I am almost finished with the GT Championship on Professional League. I checked a replay after Laguna Seca, and noticed that ASM was off, TCS was on, and the oil light was NOT on! Mine has been on since the second race, so how come their oil lights aren't on as well??? That sucks!
If you want to power slide turn off that asm and tsc ****. that crap really ****ed up my racing. then find a rear wheel drove car and when u feel the need to power slide just floor it. as long as u have eough power in your car. for a beginer at power sliding i would suggest the 300zx with at leats 375 hp
Stunt driving is fun, especially when you pull off some huge wheelspin, so huge that the torque just flies up and let's you shift into 6th, doing 7000 rpm at approx. 25mph!!
Then you can pull some awesome slides just on bare wheelspin!
I usually use the handbrake on trial mountain. After you come out of the tunnel there is a straght road then a left turn. I brake lat and turn at the same time, then I press the handbrake for 0.5 seconds. Once the car starts to slide a bit I press the gas all the way. It gets me through that turn quickly all the time.
Hope this helps a bit. Just remember not to hold the hb too long if you are turning.
