Any good ways to 'cheat' the boost system?

Like many of you I am using the frankly terrible and frustrating quick match as a tool to grind for CR quickly and easily.

I am however becoming quickly more and more frustrated with one infuriating feature 4/5 QM events feature, BOOST ON.

Seems no matter how fast I go, no matter how big a lead I take there is always someone behind me to ram me off...

Last night I got lucky in the Trial Mountain QM event and got a lobby of really bad drivers and managed to score a couple of wins... in the process I noticed if I got a large enough lead the BOOST ON penalty went away and I could run as fast as I normally could. This got me thinking of ways to fool the game into taking away to BOOST ON penalty

Has anyone figured out anyway to tune/drive to 'cheat' the BOOST ON penalty in Quick Match?

There's one group of friends I have raced with for over 4 years, they have always used boost to "give everyone a chance" as the skill levels vary widely. I've only done a few QM races but I imagine the following will apply to them too.

On an average track I find you have to be at least 5 seconds per lap quicker in non-boost conditions in order to pull away when boost is turned on, sometimes a little less if the other drivers are inconsistent. When coming on to a final straight, you need to be 1-2 seconds ahead (or 4-8 car lengths depending how fast the cars are) to win by inches at the finish line.

The easiest way to win when boost is on is to follow the leader during the last lap and be about 3 car lengths behind before the last corner. Slipstream the leader after the final turn and the magic boost will sling you past them before the line. Boost on weak is still very strong, in replays my speed can be 10-15mph higher coming out of a corner and it will barely show even by the end of a long straight, the game might let me pull ahead by a car length or two.

I can't agree on "breaking" a boost barrier based on previous silly races at High Speed Ring, SSRX etc. With boost on weak, in a spec race, a slower driver can crash until they are half a lap down on HSR, and still catch the lead pack within a lap or two.
