I just want to say. If anyone is having doubt and gran turismo 4s graphics let me asure u. Now i dont know how much better the grafix can get but from what ive noticed the should be like virtual realityu. Now the look almost perfect right. But look at this. The left is a actually gt picture. The right is one youd see in a mag or online during the games development. So if you take a gt4 picture now can u imagine what the final build will be. Or the last one which is a GT2 compare to GT3. The GT3 looks just ****y.

I see where your coming from but 90% of the GT pics weve seen recentley are from the photo mode, that instantly ups the resolution and add anti aliasing, yes the graphics will be fantastic, especially for PS2 but they will be a very loooooong way off virtual reality. Everything wil look as it should ie the cars dimensions will be spot and the textures will be accurate but the quality will still be a long way short of the real mark. Even the photo mode pics are'nt there.

The GT4 pic is accurate but falls way short on quality to fool someone into thinking it's real, the term for it is it's realistic but not photorealistic.

I believe some of you have photomode mistaken for a graphics enhancer. I believe the new pics released over the months are photomode pics because of the camera angle. I dont see angles like that in the replays. Like the new pics released, those show the ingame res. If that wasn't the ingame res, those pics wouldn't be the size that they are. Instead, they would be this size

GT4 is not PHOTOREALISTIC, the GT graphics do not encompass enough aspects of real life to be photorealistic e.g. dirt rendering. But one thing that is undisputable no matter what fanboys of other games/consoles say is the fact that GT4 will be the best looking race sim ever and it will probably stay like that until GT5 is released or another concept game is released.

P.S. You got to love the Integrale.

GT5 will have to have bumpmapping on the rumble strips and asphalt. It will had more realism. Hopefully the PS3 will be able to handle bumpmapping.

Are you saying that the picture on the left is better that the picture in the middle because they were taken from different stages of GT3's development?
I'm asking because you just can't conclude anything from that.

I think I see your point though.

I have no doubts that GT4 will look amazing,i just wonder if it would be possible to create a GT game that looks better then real life.I personally think that that wouldn't be possible,i don't know why.Probably cause my brain can't comprehend something like that,i mean how would it look?

GT4p Already looks better tha GT3, and more stable (Gt3 used to give some slight flicker on my 100 HZ Tv which would somehow make me feel sleepy, Gt4p doesnt have this).
GT4p seems as if its from the developement stage shownat E3 2003,
And the latest screens and videos suggest much improvement has been made since then.
So No point doubting the graphics of GT4.

P.S you cant really compare a car selection screen with an in game shot in the first post.

That's a bit of an ironic statement :D

The main problem with everything we've seen is actually how perfect it is. We all know the big things that makes things realistic are imperfections. Those are hard to realistically recreate according to a formula because they are by definition not formulaic.

Bumpmapping is becoming a reality more and more. How can something look better than realistic? Who knows where the future lies. When you look at the quantum jump between GT versions so far, it's staggering how far we've come.

Also, heero 12, the release date wouldn't have had anything to do with the graphic quality, that's something you start with because you're going to have to allow enough memory for the graphics right from the outset. Other factors contributed to the delay we're still enduring.

You know, I pulled out an old demo disc I had to watch an old GT3 trailer, from a few months before it came out. I remember the first time I saw that trailer, I thought it looked absolutely incredible. But watching it now, GT3 has to be at least twice as good...The trailer had aliasing all over the place (i'll show you what I mean when I get my video capture device)...it made me wonder how good GT4 will look relative to its trailer.

Sorta good point Live4speed but "realistic" and "photorealistic" are virtually the same thing. Realistic and photorealistic do not mean real. Photo just means "realistic" but relating to an image or painting.

But I do agree that most of the screens have been from Photo mode. And it makes sense to me to use it.

No, photoralistic means to look like real life, unless it's used more loosley where your from it's not over here different parts of the world say different things to make the same point but you understood what I meant. Realistic can mean it has the same dimensions and textures but it can still be realistic and blocky, I'm not saying GT4 looks blocky but it's more blocky that a photo of the real world (or are we in a matrix? Lol).

What's wrong with you people? It's a GAME. Purely entertainment. If it were to be what you want it to be it would cost a lot more than any $50 and would require a lot more hardware than a dinky PS2 hooked up to a consumer television.

Sometimes when you see the replays there are precise moments at which it seems true real life, at this moments the game is photorealistic, the rest of the time just look realistic or 3D graphics.

In still this photorealism is more difficult to appreciate.

I guess you're right...

Im not saying that it will be photo realistic. Im just saying that for some early buil pictures the look great. Much better than GT3. So campared to how it will look it will be awesome. NOT PHOTOREALISTIC. Im not CobraGT. Srry cobra.

Then I agree with you, your not CobraGT, I'm sure he'll be glad to know someone else isn't him. But I agree with that comment on the graphics, they are improved over GT3 and will look brilliant (that word is underused, don't you think) but not photorealistic.

This according to Dictionary.com. But the same is explained and taught in art schools.

"A style of painting that resembles photography in its meticulous attention to realistic detail"

GT3/4 has realistic detail. But like you said on your part of the globe it may have different meaning.

this looks pretty damn close.

My only complaint about the graphics is that I think people shouldn't fret about the wheels. I mean, I'd rather play a damn-near lifelike game like Gran Turismo 4 than to worry about something as little as rims. To me, it's like adding fuzzy dice to a car- doesn't make a difference to performance. The graphical doubts are pretty few for me. I don't expect the game to have 60 FPS and have no pop-ups or slight slip-ups. I'm not bothered if you ask me. If it isn't broke, why fix it?

well.. i have to say, those guys at PD pay really close attention to designing their cars and the whatnot. I mean, the wet courses on the PS2 version, i have yet to see anything that matches up to those graphics. Amazing, maybe not photorealistic, but the whole game will probably look as good as the paris video thats been circulating as of late.

the fact that at this stage in home game consoles you can get something looking this solid should be celebrated... imagine the next gen consoles!!! People get all caught up in this is missing or this isn't close enough to real life... pull out your Atari or Collecovision and marvel at the square block donkey kong madness... ya GT4 is not 100% photorealistic, but it is absolutely visually stunning and definitely the best looking console game we've seen thus far.

I have to agree that gt4 is the most visually stunning game on a console. I mean, it looks so realistic. Like that pic of the Mclaren. I can't imagine a game looking more realistic.

I posted a while back that the "cuda" replay appeared to HAVE 3d wheels. Anyone else wanna check it out and give their opinion? I may be incorrect [wouldn't be the first time], see for yourself!
