Hello, i have been offered a pair of brand new Bowers & Wilkins 684 floorstanding speakers.Has anybody had any experiance with these ?.Can you tell me about them please :).At the moment i have an Arcam Alpha 9 amp and Alpha 8 cd player.Would this be a good combination with these 684 speakers ?.

Short of being complete crap, any speakers for free are awesome.

As I understand it, B&W speakers are far from crap. Enjoy your new kit. 👍
 
The speaker manufacture recomends an amplifier power of 25-150 Watts into 8 ohms, and your amplifier, if I'm looking at the right one, is rated at 70 Watts into 8 ohms. Thus, you should be fine.
 
Congrats on the new speakers. I have been an audiophile for many years. I have Swans speakers that use similar "pod" tweeters from Hi-Vi. Arcam is pretty nice, as well.
 
When you say offered do you mean free? If so jump at the chance. While the 684's are far far away from B&W's high end gear they still sound nice.

They partly keep the costs down by manufacturing them in their factory in China but to their standards and specs.

I wish they were free, but they aren't.Does anybody have an idea of what they are worth ?.They were £800 new.Thanks Doth1.
