I'm going to be doing some car shopping in October when I go up to Adelaide for Soundwave, and I've narrowed down some of my options (the more expensive offerings I was once looking at are now pretty much out of the question due to financial issues, I'm looking about a max of AU$5,000) but I've been wondering on a few of them. Basically I've been looking at the ST162 and ST184 Toyota Celicas, E30 and E36 BMW 3-series' and the Honda Prelude Si.
My real questions come with this, a 1985 323i. I'm not entirely familiar with the older Bimmers but I've been told that the 323i is the way to go for a straight-6 BMW from that era. It seems well looked after, but what are the real problem areas for these? Also for the E36s there's pretty much only the 318i on offer and the odd 318is.
