What do you like to burn? Do you have a fireplace? What burns good?

I find that pinecones burn really nice- first they catch, then there is a sound like gas whooshing and you see a tounge of fire spitting out the side, then when the gas is gone, it dies down to a nice looking glowy pinecone shaped ember... pics are available, but not until I find a working mem-card reader.

So we were trying to clear all of the snow from our driveway today. Well, it's more like ice now. I built a flamethrower. Took a camp stove and sprayed WD-40 into it. Sadly, it didn't work. Nice big fireball, though. Plants caught fire. Any suggestions on how to build one?

I used to be. One time, me and couple of friends(probably 3rd, 4th graders at the time) were trying to start a fire, but since I wasn't a complete dumba$$, I suggested to do it in the park, right inside the sandbox.

As we were trying to light this whatever object on fire, this little kid who couldn't be anymore than 4, 5 years old came and told us that playing with fire is dangerous. We told him to get lost, had fun with the fire, and walked away.

Next day, our teacher tells the class about this brave boy who was awarded by the fire department for confronting kids playing with fire at the park. As the teacher warns us not to be like these idiots playing with the fire.... he looks straight at me, right in the eyes(I was quite a trouble maker).

That was more funny than embarrassing, but I learned my lesson.

Why would you go to all that trouble when you could just take an old 6' diameter satellite dish, coat it in mylar, take it out on a sunny day and point it at whatever you want to scorch?

I'm no arsonist, but i am a pyromanic.
I used to get al-foil then roll it up & stick a stick in it the coat the foil ball in a Flammable liquid & throw it.

My "weapon" was a little small for what I wanted. I want something that will shoot flame several feet. Something like this:

I beg to differ. I've lit a bonfire with one that was constructed by a group of mech. eng. classmates last year. The things pack a serious punch if you can get the beam focussed narrowly enough.

Over the weekend I attended a party at a friend's place, where we had a nice campfire going. Then we chucked one of these in the fire:

We then got the hell away, and waited. A minute later, the fire doubled in size and roared like a blast furnace for about 1.5 minutes as the propane blew it's way out of the cap and slowly emptied the bottle. Not the boom we were anticipating, but satisfying nonetheless.


I also almost got hit by a lit road flare that night.
Nothing really makes you run faster then hearing "Look out!", and turning to see a small, brilliant, red ball of light flying down from the sky at you.

I used to burn my Hot Wheels cars in the house fireplace. It's a propane fire so it was plenty hot enough to burn the plastic. Little did I know that plastic particles and dust would blow all over the living room, so I had a nice mess to clean up before the parents got home.

Another time I took a stack of 3 days of newspaper and soaked it with gasoline out back, next to the pool. I lit it. It burned, belching black smoke for about 30 seconds when I decided it was getting too big, so I used my bucket and dumped at least 15 gallons of pool water on the thing before it went out. I had burnt newspaper floating everywhere in the pool after that.

I've also got this thing for shooting bottle rockets at my neighbors' houses. I have a few plastic pipes that are about 6 feet long and an inch in diameter, and I'd light the rocket, slide it down the pipe and let it rest on the tape I covered the other end with. I'd aim, and the bottle rocket would go there. It was pretty accurate, actually. I got a couple to go off right next to my neighbors' sliding glass doors.

i have these little 'footy cars' (made out of metal and plastic). They have a footy club written on them (collingwood, hawthorn etc.). So what i do is go to my backyard (its concrete) and burn them cars alive. I light a candle and lay it on the ground and then put a car on top of the fire(usually hawthorn or carlton ) . i might even send some pics of what the cars look like now.

And try Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars. They burn good; (for me atleast)
