Any recommended USB keyloggers?

I am about to start a University project to detect whether a USB keylogger is inserted or has previously been inserted into a Windows PC. I need to be able to test as many as I can.

The issue is they are rather expensive to buy, and I can only get hold of 1 from the University. So I was wondering if anyone knew any that definitely work? Especially considering after researching a bit a couple don't even work at all...

Try this or any other similar thing at instructables.com. You can build one using an old USB providing you can write a bit of code.
 
I'll probably try that as a last resort. Apparently they are not easy to make if you don't have the experience. Would save be a few bucks though. :P
