Hey guys,

My dad is after a wiring diagram for a JDM 1999 Subaru Legacy GT VDC (BH5).

The reason my dad needs this is because there is some sort of problem with the VDC, as when the vehicle moves forward, the VDC and ABS lights come on.

The DTC indicates a G Sensor fault, but my dad has replaced it with a known good one and the same fault still occurs. My dad has another car, which is the same model and has swapped various modules between the two. He is currently thinking it is the ABS pump unit, but he really wants a wiring diagram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks,

SVX.

Damn had you posted this yesterday I could have gotten one to you no problem through a site I use. But I have limited access to it.

:ouch:

I was gonna post this yesterday but, being me, I procrastinated and didn't. :dunce:

When will you next be able to view this website?

Check if autozone has anything. Or just google images for a diagram. That how I usually find something I need.

Also, it might be a long shot but is there enough brake fluid in the car?

Thanks for the reply!

I don't think NZ has an Autozone, and I haven't been able to find anything on Google Images.

Yeah, my dad said there was.

You wouldn't happen to know if it's all the same for the US spec models, or if we even got that specific variation? I have access to wiring diagrams, but only for US cars.

Not until January :/ If you can wait, I can get the exact diagram and everything. All I need is the engine size.

As far as I know the US and the JDM models are different. I'm not even sure the VDC came to the US.

May of though, as didn't the Outbacks have it?

Yup, that's fine. One thing though, can you confirm it's a JDM diagram though? As far as I know, the US and the JDM models are different.

It's 2.0 litre twin turbo (EJ20).

I believe I can choose between regions, I'll have to check though.

My best guess is definitly brakes and most likely front pads and rotors, when the DTC sets in the ABS for a low brake fluid level it will cause the VDC to go into failsafe and the slip,VDC, and Brake light should come on. Take a look under the hood and see what your level looks like. Although,

To expand on, the brake fluid system is pretty much a closed system. As the brake pads and/or rotors wear, the pistons in the brakes push out to make up for the used material as such, the brake fluid, takes up that space behind the piston.

It's basically all about filling voids.

I'm not sure how replacing the VDC sensor is going to prevent the fail safe from triggering when the problem is a lack of fluid. UNLESS, your VDC sensor is causing problem

Back to school a few days ago, had to reboot the PC system so I'll be able to get the diagrams tomorrow afternoon. At some point later tomorrow you shall have them posted in this thread.

Well to my surprise the car wasn't in the list that was available, so I got the closest model I could to it. Although since the JDM and US models are different these may be innaccurate. I'm not sure but this was the best I could do.

These amy be totally off but it was the best I could do. When I pulled up the car and searched the diagram list I literally got 30 different catagories so I went with the ABS ones.

If they are inaccurate, I'm sorry.

Have you tried going to Supercheap Auto and having a look at their service manuals?

Thanks a ton for your reply.

My dad said that the brake fluid level is fine, and there is plenty of pad life left in the pads.

The DTC code is to do with the YAW Sensor that sits over the driveshaft tunnel under the centre console.

If the car is on a slight hill with just the ignition on, (engine not started), when you take the handbrake off, as the car rolls forward (in a straight line) one metre, the ABS and VDC lights come on. My dad feels that it is a ABS Wheel Sensor but he has metered them out and they came up okay. He says he may just start swapping them out from another car (exact same) he has.

He has also swapped the YAW from another car of the same model, but the same problem occurred.

Otherwise, do you have any other suggestions? :)

Thanks again.

PM sent. :)

Yeah, but they don't have anything about VDC in them.
