Ok well I got into GT5 recently and wanted a wheel. Never owned one before but felt it would add a lot to the game and other pc/ps3 games too. So I did a lot of research and settled on getting a used wheel, preferably locally off craigslist.
So I wanted a DFP originally but all the ones in my area were already sold since GT5 just came out I assume. But I found someone selling a logitech red momo for $20, thinking it was broken I asked him to test it out first. It had been in his garage for a few years apparently. Well he plugged it into his ps3 and it turned on and it seemed like the ps3 recognized it. I already knew it worked with GT5 after some users posted it did on another forum. So I got it and it works almost perfectly, it centers a few degrees to the left for some reason.
Anyways I needed a place to mount it right, use your desk. But I have a lazy boy type of chair and have nothing in front of me. I used a tv tray fora day but it was so light that if I didn't tough the wheel the FF would move it on its own. So I googled some designs and found one I liked from a user, changed it a bit to fit my specific needs/wheel/pedal. And it came out pretty good I think. Here's what mine looks like. I also glued on some hooks I had in my garage to help manage the cords.
The main issue is it is still not quite heavy enough, during turns if I don't pay attention I can lift on side a cm or so off the ground which is annoying.
I was thinking of adding weight to it. Maybe putting a pole in the base and sticking a weight on it. Maybe 5 lbs or so. Or adding a weight to the underside of the top table to add weight. Any suggestions on how to accomplish adding weight to the rig?
Also does anyone know of something I can buy a hardware store that you put under furniture to add grip/friction, like some kind of rubber? The ones I have are just made to protect the floor not grip it.
