Any tips on driving MR (Mid-engine) vehicles?

So I'm trying to get gold on the Lake Maggiore Circuit Experience. I've watched the video linked below. But I'm still having trouble with the weight management and braking. I'm also not sure why the car "skips" in that last corner, I'm thinking the back is losing traction somehow, or maybe I'm pushing it too hard?

I've gotten the following advice, but any others would be very helpful:

  • Do majority of braking in straight line
  • Trail brake only in slow corners, and/or at a minimum
  • Don't lift in corners e.g. lift-off oversteer
  • Tap brakes to shift weight toward front which can help with corner
  • Avoid abrupt changes

Thanks

I started another thread on driving without traction control, and I realized that most of the advice about throttle control and weight shifting applies just as well to MR cars. Check it out:

The simplest thing I can say is be smooth on your inputs, and use both feet in concert (braking and accelerating). When you get it, it feels amazing.

Thanks, I'll have a look. I'm almost convinced I should try with traction control off, at least to get a better understanding of the underlying behaviors of the car for a while.

Hi,

As you can only work with the driving aids in the missions, experiences and licenses - you have to play around with those settings. I have the feeling, that some setups you have to deal with in missions, experiences and licenses are absolute crazy - if not totally stupid. I took some of the cars directly from the dealer for some training in certain cases and even stock from the dealer - the car was much more simple to be driven fast.

So it is absolutely possible - that it is not your driving in general - but that you just haven't found the correct driving aids setup or have just problems adopting to the weird setup of the car.

I think you’re right. It’s only when I decided to tackle TC0 that I began to improve my driving.

My racecraft, however, is hopeless . . .
