OK, finally getting some time to play AC (and other racing sims) again after a couple months off. Thought it was a good time to try and fix a few issues that have been bothering me and which I haven't been able to figure out on my own:

1) Is there any way I can turn off the race-position overlay at the very bottom of the screen? I really don't like it. Every other UI element I can turn off and on, but that one seems to be there in any event with opponents (i.e. not in practice etc.). I don't just dislike it, I downright hate it and want it gone.

2) Is there any way to switch shifter configurations without backing all the way out and loading a different controller profile? I really like to play with the same shifter config as the RL car. Hence I'm always going all the way back to the controller setup and loading a different config based on whether the car I'm driving has a real shifter or flappy paddles...

Sorry if those are really basic questions. I did a brief google on both and nothing turned up so I figured someone here would know.

Not that I'm aware of. You have to back all the way out.

You have to assign both your H-shifter and your paddles in the options. The game will then automatically change the shifter config based on the setup of the car.

As long as all you need is h-gate and paddle, AC will automatically select the one that apply to the car you are driving, no need to do anything.
The only time you might have to go back to switch configuration is if you want to switch from h-gate to sequential, if you have a sequential shifter available, not talking about sequential with paddles, then you need to create a separate configuration.

Ah, interesting. Thanks I'll give that a try! I'm using the T500, so no need to worry about a sequential, just the paddles and the gated shifter.

That's very nice to have, thanks. Since all the other UI elements are handled through the usual system (slide-out-menu at right) I never even thought to look for a command-key shortcut.
