Anybody else get this glitch?

It is extremely frustrating, I will start a race, and sometimes no numbers will show up on the tachometer/spedometer and the music won't start, as soon as I see this I know the game won't work because I will be stuck with my car driving around the track infinitely at the end of the game. I can't bring up the pause menu, it just pauses the game but doesn't bring up a menu, I can't quit back in to the regular gran turismo menu and have to completely quit the game, usually causing my system to reset since it can't quit properly.

The most annoying part, is that sometimes the numbers show up on the tachometer or I won't notice that the music hasn't started and will do an entire race without noticing and it happens EVERY TIME I play now. I just put it in, started the clubman cup championship driving the 69 Camaro and instantly got this freeze, did 3 races yesterday before I tried this SAME EVENT and it did this glitch that time too. I have however had it freeze in other events. It froze on the Le mans race in the world classic car series and I have had it freeze on other tracks driving other cars.

I have a slim model PS3, I have reinstalled the Game Data, I have tried playing signed out of the network. I do not have custom music on and it STILL freezes. The weirdest thing though, is that I NEVER have had this glitch happen online, and I have played over 100 races online yet it happens probably 1 out of every 4 or 5 races offline now. Is there any fix that I haven't tried yet..............?

Edit: I am going to post a "freeze"log so I can say which cars tracks and events caused it.

Car - track - event - online status:
Camaro SS 69' - Tsukuba - Clubman Cup - signed out (twice)
Camaro SS 69' - Le Mans 2009 No chicane - World Classic Car Series - signed in
Honda Motul Civic - Suzuka Circuit - FF cup - signed in
Hommel Berlinette R/S 99' - Rome Circuit - European Hot Hatch - signed in (twice)

Happen to me online twice!! So annoying

I get the freezing on the track/race loading screen, I can tell when its gonna happen because the ticker running across the top of the screen goes all jerky and stuttery.

Nothing will fix it, just gotta quit the game!

Only happens on Seasonals, don't play A Spec so don't know if the same applies!

It's unreal, this time the tachometer showed up and everything looked fine, I was able to pause properly and everything....Race ends. Freeze up. COME THE **** ON. I can't play for more than 30 minutes.

Are you sure it's not custom soundtrack related because I don't see what else it can be.

It only happened to me only when I was using my internet connection for downloading file from PC at full speed (without limiter), it makes the loading time ran slower than before (since GT5 need stable internet connection to be played). Perhaps you could pause any device that consume alot of bandwith while you're playing GT5.

Or maybe you could try to rebuild your PS3 database (if you already had to much experience can't shutted down your PS3 properly). Sometimes it helps to reduce the unresponding PS3 while playing.

Sounds like the "custom music" bug to me. I just stopped using my own music in GT5, it was too annoying to have this happen.

Had this a number of times before. Not consistently, but it can happen every now and then.

It will happen on any race as well. The only way to check if it happens on time trials (since there's no ticker) is to try zoom and see if that goes jerky.

Yes it has happened to me in A spec' and Seasonals.

Could it be your disk? How dirty is it? A few of my games (Dirt 3, Borderlands, InFamous 2) all started to act up, and I gave them a quick wipe down with an adhesive wipe (basically a touch-screen wipe) and it fixed the problems. Now and then I get some glitches in GT5, and I clean the disk, and the problems get fixed... for a while. Try that. (If you haven't already...)

I'm wondering, I used custom music on a different account/save file. I do not have it enabled on the one that has been freezing and I haven't played on that other account since I lost it's Password, do you think there is a possibility that could be causing it?

I know the problem , ignore all post above, your blue ray drive is taking its last breaths before going to silicon heaven..
your symptom is the audio not working and a unresponsive pause, i had the exact same thing, the audio would play, cut off and anything that involved loading after that would freeze and or load forever..
The next symptom should be the disk not popping up in the XMB..
Trust me...
symptoms include lagged audio , the image does not match the audio , this does not include lagging audio due to overclocking the cpu (to many explosions or things on the screen , also the 100% sure sign is during in game movies that have audio lag your drives dead! * if you have it in ANY game your blue ray drive is faulty and WILL EVENTUALY DIE)
Look into repairing your console...
To test my theory play little big planet 2 if you own it,it should not Boot up since the game has no menu and if it does no levels will load.

If the blue ray lens was bad it would give specific beep codes during boot and shutdown of the ps3. When you turn it on, it should make 2 beeps and 3 when shutting down.

My buddy fixes consoles, did mine as well.

Also, just throwing this out there but maybe your HDMI cable isn't working properly. A cheap HDMI cable doesn't have a long life expectancy.

Just had this happen today running a seasonal.
Maybe happened once before a while back.
Had to quit out. Don't know what causes it.

Okay so I deleted my game data, rebuild my database, reinstalled the game data and all updates. Started a race, paused, no menu. **** OFF WHY DO I HAVE TO GET TORTURED WITH THIS ****.

Sure it does pall, that's why people get errors codes and stuf because the ps3 "shuts down if the BRD is bad" the playstations faulty BRD will still read a disk just not properly load, not a faulty HDMI cable. Why doesn't it do that after I got my BRD replaced ?
Oh and for the record a 20$ sony hdmi cable * the one i have * vs a 100$ 3rd party brand is the same thing, even the 10$ 99cent store hdmi cables work fine there all the same...

You missed what I said "pal". I didn't say it shuts off ITSELF, I'm saying when YOU shut it off or on it gives you beep codes.

For the record, if your faulty lens is gone, it wont read at all, there's no in-between period, it works, or not. When mine went, it didn't load the game icon at all.

Lastly, I'm not saying the HDMI cables perform differently, I said they have a lower life span, due to cheap metal being used. Metal burns, did you not know that.

You might want to read more carefully and do some research before you be so disrespectful to people.
