Hey guys,

I've tried out using the GT5 BGM function to play my own music. I've dragged music from iTunes to a USB and put it on a playlist on my PS3. After trying many times the music will not play in GT5, saying the music type is not supported. I have 53 tracks on my playlist. Is that too much or should I change the type to MP3? Thanks :D

yerh mine works whenever it wants to! never seems to remember the setting :S
but yerh give it a go with the MP3 format, should work then!

I gave up on that....seems buggy.

it is buggy that why!!!!! i was doing DTM race thing in B-spec and it froze a number of times at the END of the race :grumpy:!!!!
it could be a post and a few hours later to find out the the custom BGM was the culprit!

I can confirm from experience that the music files have to be in the .mp3 file format.
(I also learned the hard way that when you drag music over to a USB drive, you need to put them into a folder named "MUSIC" in order for XMB to be able to locate where the music is.)
I personally haven't noticed a big change in the crashing of the software ever since I started using some personal background music.
The place mine crashes the most involves the Dream Car Championship (B-Spec). Either it will freeze up on me between races, or it'll freeze right at the end of the champion before the trophy screen.
But hey, it's just a computer program (that I'm addicted to), and computer programs crash, such is life.
Peace...

In the Advanced options in iTunes you can create mp3 versions....than add them to your Windows Media Player....turn on the media server in the WMP and the PS3....than add them to a playlist to use in GT....if you're PS3 is connected to the net.

.mp3 format for sure. Size wise, the playlists will only hold about 500+- tracks. But you can make multi playlists and swap out from time to time.
