Well, for anybody who saw my red wreck in that thread, I just pulled the engine and tranny out of her. (trannies going into my current MX3) The engine is sitting on my front porch, right outside my window, and the tranny is in my trunk :p I'm thinking of making a table out of the engine :D I doubt anybody wants anything, but if anybody wants a complete 1.8L Mazda v6 from a 1992 Mazda MX3 GS, give me a shout. Also, got most of the rest of the car up for grabs. I have to be back at college by the 6th, so I'm offering anything anybody might want, up till then. At that point, the car gets hauled off and the engine will probably start getting torn down, but I figured I might as well post it on all the groups I'm a part of, just in case.. I spose I will go out and start tearing little things out this week, IE-cruise control, radiator etc. although they're still all up for grabs. If you know anybody that might want a part, give me a shout as well...
peace,

MazKid is into mazdas, ask him :D but I'm sure he'll haunt you to death first with a load of questions about your maz :D

Naw man, I can't use that engine. And how the hell would I get it over here anyway? You could sell it to a junk yard or put it in the paper....someone would want it.

And again...I'm only 15, haven't driven yet(unless you consider backing my mom's MPV out of the garage, washing it, and putting it back in the garage driving), but my dad did say he would get a battery in my 323 tonight, and get it running....we still have several hours.

And about the questions, RUF, I've already asked Mason all about his MX-3.

I have all the Mazda engines I want... Just a question, is it a DOHC? I mainly get the rotaries, not v6.

yea it is. It's a tuned down version of the Probe V6.

well the same way I'm gonna get a ZE from Portland OR someday, it's gonna be shipped ;) I can get an engine such as this sent all the way across the states for about $100, so if I were selling her cheap enough, it's possible somebody might hit on it. Figured it's worth a try. I'm definetly not ditching to a yard tho, it's either gonna be sold, parted out or I'm gonna keep it for my tinkering pleasure and spare parts :) (if I didn't have a stepdad, my mom was gonna let me swing it in my window, and into my room, HAHAHAHA :D ) I'm sure I could sell it if I were in a more populated, AND educated area, but KY/WV people just don't tend to know anyting about Mazda's to begin with, much less want a lil tiny v6, hehe. (maybe I'll find it a home in a 323. One of my MX3 buds just swapped one into a 92 model and he said it's a screamer now..) Another cool idea, is see if I can't get ahold of a 2.5 crank and cams and swap them in. Apparently the engines are similar enough to do this and it will of course yield me more power, although at the expense of some much-needed low end. Just a thought, although once you get into re-scoring the jouranals and such, it doesn't really seem worth it. Still, somthing thats of interest at the same time. My original plan for my MX3 was to eventually swap to a 2.5L, but at the same time order a custom 2.9L stroker kit, (from I don't remember where, they had a 2.7 already made for the KL series K's and said they would up it to a 2.9 for not too much more), but now I think I'm just gonna drop a stock ZE in it, (j-spec 2.5), and not mess around too much. Just put it in with some basic bolt-ons, IE-underdrive pulley, bored TB, my PRM intake, exhaust, phenolic intake mani. spacers and so on. If done correctly I should be able to get about 230hp at the crank and have a reliable, gas efficient engine starting with around 40k on it. Sounds better, easier and more reliable to me than doing a custom turbo or supercharger onto a typical probe engine, although that would really kick. That is/was one thought... I could build a custom turbo kit, for about $1800 and alotta time, that would bolt straight up to my K8 engine/s, then swap it directly over to a KL engine. Doing that would give me a great testbed and would be useable if I fried, or just decided to upgrade the engine. Prolly won't happen tho, just not enough time to do that kind of thing, and as I said before, a reliable engine is a must for me. But again, a cool thought. Either engine can handle about 10psi, no mods, (other than a high volume pump), which would make my little 1.8 pretty healthy, and likewise with a 2.5. (although a j-spec one is a bit higher on the compression side of things, so I couldn't really start with that engine) Bla bla bla, I could talk about this kind of stuff forever, hehe. Feels neat to be a two engine owner :) I figure my second will turn into parts, one of which will be a bored TB, which will save me the down-time if I were to pull the one in my MX and have to send her off to Bullfrog or somthin. Wish extrude honing didn't cost so much. Another possiblity, if I feel like port-matching, is dropping a KL mani. and TB down onto her, and boring it in the process. thoughts, dreams, thoughts, dreams :p I'll shutup now!
peace,

I thought the 1.8 V6 only made ~110hp and similar torque. It's an interesting engine, in any case, such a small 6. Is there a way to bore it out without stroking it? That should give you more low end power, theoretically. Unless you're on the strip, you'd probably want to make more low end than top end out of this kind of engine.

132hp with 115 ft/lbs of torque.

that is correct. At first I thought Cambels reply was from you, mazkid, and I was like wha??? :) (no offense man, I just know mazkid knows his maz stuff) The only thing I have to add is that with the hp rating, you can pick a number between 128-134, depending on at what point inwhich the RPM is measured.. (I choose the 134 :p ) The thing actually has decent low-end, for it's size and ratings etc., but being stuck with an auto......... also, wouldn't mind having the 300lb decrease in weight that the 323 has over me!
