My corsair h70 busted a few months ago and got water all over my PC. I had no way of testing the components without a cooker so I finally got the PC to a guy today to make sure nothing was ruined. Everything is good except one gpu. It's a 4gb 670 so I've got a decent chunk of change in it. I filled out a damage claim and sent it to them today. The big problem is that it says $150 max for gpu. My 670 cost 3 times that.

Has anyone in here had to deal with corsair service and how did it go? I'm really hoping they honor more than $150. $150 seems awfully low to me for a PC using water cooling. I can't imagine to many people use water that doesn't have high end parts.

I had a K90 keyboard with a damaged → key and they honored the warranty(well the issue was unrealated, but they could have choosen to void it)

I've returned some faulty memory with no problems, but nothing like your problem.

I'd say you're only going to get the $150. It sucks, but if that's their policy then that's their policy. You could try causing a ruckus and continually calling/emailing to see if they just get sick of listening to you and offer you more.

If the GPU was still under warranty and didn't show any signs of water damage, I'd try and RMA it to your GPU manufacturer. If they can't see the water damage, all they are going to do is test to see if it works if it doesn't they'll fix/ship you a new one. If they came back and said "Oh this has water damage, you could always play the fool and say you didn't know (make up a story) and worse they'll either offer to fix it for a price, send it back as is, or keep it themselves and fix and sell it as a refurbished.

It's worth a try.

Another idea, is maybe try and find out when that $150 amount was implemented. If it was years ago, I'm not sure how long Corsair has been making water coolers, then maybe you could point that out to them.

Looks like the H70 has been around since about 2010, or at least a model of it.

In a 2010 Tomshardware guide for best graphics cards, their highest price single card was at $200 and it was a Radeon 4890HD

So even if they made that damage claim form then, giving $150 for a graphics card that their unit damage wasn't a bad deal.

So maybe go down that road and see if they can up their claim amount, since like you said most people running water cooling are going be using more than a $150 graphics card.

It's not going great so far with my damage claim. Corsair missed their 48 hour response window after filing for a claim. When I called them about it Friday they said the one person that handles the claims was not there and they would contact me next week. The guy I talked to at customer service knew very little about damage claims.

I have seen though that there is a rep who takes part in another forum who has been good about getting problems fixed that corsair doesn't take care if properly.
