Anyone else abUSE the AI ?

I mostly run Seasonals even if I'm playing with a new car or tune. Even 8th place pays out enough for the upgrade montage.

So I've got this bad habit going on. It seems like I meet the AI in the corners so often and of course they are darn near where I wanna be. I find myself using them as a bouncing board to cut a corner down. Sometimes they also make for good deceleration as does the dirt or curb. Probably a horrible habit to be in despite the AI being brainless, rude and inconsiderate of my need to use 80% of the prime roadway.💡 I'm noticing a tend that well over 50% of the time I am passing the AI with my "sportsman like hip bump" or cutting a corner through the dirt. I think the habit started with a "win at all cost" mentality in Seasonals to bring in the bigger bucks. I was just wondering if anyone else AB-USES the AI ?
I haven't raced in an online room. I probably will at some point even if it's in GT6. Started GT5 later than many 3 months ago. I'm sure I'll exercise extreme caution if I ever go online.

I do... but its hard to get rid of that habit once you get into online mode ;)
 
Online A-Spec NO. 4. Ah, good times. But it is more satisfying to drive clean. But it does get boring once you're good enough. Then you go back to being dirty in lower pp cars.
 
I hate racing the AI. Sometimes my objective is to push them into the pits, cause a massive pile up, or just hit them at every chance I get.
Don't worry though, I'm not anything close to that in online racing:lol:

Just run dirty races online and you won't need to be careful.
 
I used to race quite dirty, but once I lurked on to online, I realized I would end up getting kicked very often so I toned it down a notch. But when racing the AI I still will give them some love (hate) and probably 60% of the time I don't care. Sometimes though I let my imagination kick in and end up prefering to race clean so I feel like I'm racing for real.
 
No, I don't abuse the AI...at all. Quite the opposite actually. I race them as if I would race real people online. I make clean passes and make it a point to not even touch them if at all possible. If I can't make a clean pass on them, I will patiently wait until I can. This is a purposely built habit which I started from day one and its what has helped make me the clean racer that I am today.
 
I am a HUGE jerk to the AI in offline mode, because I know for a fact that they can't do anything about it. Black flag for deliberately running another car off the road? Pfft. Penalty for "accidentally" T-boning a car in a sharp corner? You wish. The thing is, the game doesn't penalize you for doing the sort of things you would get disqualified for in a real-life race. Since there aren't any repercussions for doing so (assuming your collision didn't slow you down more than necessary), there's not a whole lot of incentive for driving clean to me. Driving clean against the AI doesn't really seem too fun to me. I just win the race to get credits so I can expand my car collection.

Despite what a cheating scumbag I can be when I'm offline, my online gameplay is a different story entirely. I drive as clean as I possibly can. I NEVER go for a pass unless it's clean. Regardless of whether or not penalties are in place, I always follow the course as it was meant to be driven. Leading up to a corner, if there's someone beside me, I never block him or take up his space. If he's a little further ahead of me, I slow down and let him lead through the corner. If he's a little bit behind me, mostly he'll let me lead through the corner. In the rare event that I cause someone to screw up in a corner, I pull off to the side of the track and let the other driver pass me before I resume racing. Those races are always more rewarding, because you're up against another human being who is much more dynamic than the AI. Humans can actually form strategies, adequately capitalize on the mistakes of other drivers, and acknowledge the fact that there are actually other cars on the track. Of course, humans also have the capacity to be complete jerks, however those drivers don't last long in an online room. (That is, if the host is fulfilling his role adequately.)

The human element is what makes those online races so fun. If everyone is giving their best, that's all it takes for me to enjoy those races. It's a lot better when I'm racing drivers that are about as skilled as me, if not a bit more skilled. My favorite races are the ones that are clean and very close. I would much rather lose a very close race by a narrow margin than finish miles ahead (or in some cases, behind) everyone else. So to be able to get the most enjoyment out of the lobby, I race cleanly. As a side bonus, I also get to stay in the room.

Just because you race super-dirty offline, doesn't always mean you habitually race dirty online as well. The key is just knowing the difference between racing AI and racing other people. Chumping another driver into the pits can be quite funny if it's a computer. Not so much if it's another person.
 
Nope,I never abuse the AI most of the time.I try to keep clean in racing with the AI because if I race dirty I can't control myself even in online.
 
I used to be a big AI abuser in my younger days, especially in the older games with the controller. Ever since I got a wheel I drive as clean as possible. These days whenever I make contact with the AI I actually feel poor about it. I know it's just a computer and it doesn't have any feelings, but there's something gratifying winning a race cleanly that makes me feel good about my driving ability. Back when I used to watch Nascar I remember Darrell Waltrip referring to leaning on opponents in the corners as driving on 8 wheels. No more of that for me.

Same with running a hugely over powered car. I used to do this in the endurance races, but winning by a dozen+ laps is boring.
 
The only time abuse the AI is when I'm running seasonal's with massively lowered PP value for credit farming.
Other wise is find it mush more rewarding to race it clean and fair, a test of how patient i can be on the track as the AI makes for a slow painful drive in some sections of all tracks but that's how I would think it is in real life racing when you come up on a slower driver in a tight section of track with no place to pull out of the way with out putting your self in danger.
 
I don't need any more credits so I only try and improve my driving and enjoy different Stock vehicles. It's more challenging to drive clean attempting only clean passes=more fun. Longer Arcade races (30+ min) can be quite challenging that way. Chasing down a faster car for 15+ laps or holding off a faster AI can feel similar to an online Enduro.

This is kinda what I'm feeling in retrospect. Bad habits are hard to break. I never specifically went after the AI ( ok, well let's not say "never" LOL. I have been bumped by the AI into the grass and spun out or rear ended and missed my turn in and then spent 2 laps trying to repay the favor....absolutely absurd ! I KNOW!! )
But it just seemed like they were where I wanted/needed to be so meh.... That turned into " If I hit AI White Skyline it will bounce me nicely into the exit of the turn "...... Ponders....why is it always a Skyline??💡

Now I'm trying to break the habit because I know that someday I'm going to want to try online.

I have most of the cars I want and need and more than I'll ever have time to enjoy thoroughly and finally hanging at 17 mil so I am taking seasonal more seriously, more competitively and surprising myself that I am doing well

That's why I started out clean from day 1, so there were no bad habits to break. 👍 I have always played the game in a positive manner, learning what I could about proper racing etiquette along the way.

I'll make sure I steer clear of any rooms which you are in if I ever venture onto online again. :lol:
 
Well if he does, so long as he stays in the dirty rooms, more power to him.

Same here. I use it as an extra challenge to get past without touching them. If I do, I will restart the race (if short) or give myself a penalty by dropping to last. It makes the game a lot more fun.

Like you said, I treat them as real people, real drivers too. I put myself in their "shoes".
 
I've been known to cause the odd unscheduled pitstop for the AI, but usually only out of revenge or boredom... :lol:
