just got back from holidays and switched on ps3 had a message from someone i`ve never heard of saying if i send a code that he provided to all in my friends list i would recieve £50 to spend in ps store. i have not done it. has anyone else had this message. this is not directly related to gt5 but i thought i would post here as its the only ps3 game i play

It's a scam, just some BS that floats around.

This would be much better suited for the Console and PC Gaming forum (which you can relocate this thread to by using Thread Tools in your post), and mostly everyone has gotten a few of those since the downtime a few months ago. They aren't legit.

Ever since the PS3 update that allowed for copy and pasting of messages, I've gotten thousands of these

HI! PM this code to 500 of your friends and get a free case of carpal tunnel-syndrome the next time you log on.

Code: BS4U2C

Lol, yep, just a scam. Ignore it. ;)

Complete scam. For no reason, many of my PSN friends send me this piece of infestation :dunce: Usually, the message would ask you to send it to 50 people or your friends and you'll magically unlock the provided code, which you redeem to receive 50 PSN dollars. There's also messages before January 2011 that spreads a rumor of Sony charging customers of using PSN. Yet again another hoax.

i get some also, just fill a psn grief report.

I've had these, but you can tell they're fake when they spell executive 3 different ways during the message :p

Old ones must remember the similar "oh god hotmail will be paid at least (insert funny number) people re send this mail" :D
Just BS, it's a good way to detect who in your friends group are gullible...

Total BS. This is nothing new. By the time you receive the message, the code's original owner will have already used it, and passed along the same useless code, thus wasting the time of anyone who is naive enough to attempt to use it. And of those who do try to use it, about 90% are severely agitated, and the remaining 10% are still foolish enough to believe this crap, thus being the reason why you get such nonsense in your PSN inbox.

Do you really think that PSN communicates with its users about offers via chainmail? :sly: Just ignore it :)
