Anyone Else Hate the New Reverse Disengagement?

I actually thought that now having reverse tied into the gears is great.. far more realistic than pressing a button.

They should have set it up so you could select reverse with the left paddle shifter, then it would be perfect.

They did.

I've been doing that whenever I need to use reverse. It works just like one would expect downshift below 1st and you get reverse. Only seems to do so when stopped though. You can also still use the button if you want.

As far as the question in the OP goes the way the button works to engage and allow you to use the throttle is much better than the way it was before and 1000x better for us wheel users as holding that button down while doing a full revolution of the wheel was nonsense.

Now we have the option to use the button or the shifter and then use the throttle to backup which is much better than before.

I guess it no longer automatically shifts back to a forward gear when you release the button but really it never should have been that way to start with. The way it is now or more realistic and more how it should be.

Naturally I like it now, hated it the way it was in previous GT games.

I'm just so used to pushing triangle for reverse and then pressing the gas pedal to get back in 1st gear that with GT6 I just keep reversing since I'm used to not having to put it in first gear.

I'll teach myself to do it eventually, but for now its a bit of an annoyance.
