Been playing GT5 since launch regularly on 32" Samsung LCD, and now have a permanant "Best Lap" etc and other HUD info burned into the screen.
Especialy noticeable on the grey background in the car dealership area.
Also race results are ghosting aswell.:nervous::scared::nervous::scared:👎
I realy hope this disappeaars by tomorrow if I don;t play anymore today:ill:

Don't worry. It goes away after awhile and no damage is done. If it really annoys you, turn down your brightness. And how old is your TV?

Btw, if you want to know for 100% what type if screen you have, try tapping the screen with your nail. If it's glass, it's plasma. If it's plasticy, and it has a fluid behind it, it's an LCD or LED (which is an LCD which LED lighting...).

Lcd's will as well. It's not likely burn-in just image retention. If you can somehow have a bright image on the screen (solid color is best) like pink or light blue and leave that on for a couple hrs at a time for a few days the images should disappear with time. I had this happen to my 26" LCD i use as my PC monitor, the desktop i was using had some black objects in it and they stayed on my screen for some time before disappearing.

I hope it's retention and not burn. Then it sounds like it will go. It's definately LCD which I was sure this wasn't supposed to happen to.

LCD's are nowhere near as prone to image retention as plasmas; sounds like you may just be a bit unlucky! :)

I had some retention on my 42" LG plasma after playing B-Spec mode for days on end. The LG has a 'whitewash' function to help remove it. I've been using that option and the image has almost gone (I had all the driver info at the bottom of the screen clearly visible).

Is your set new? Mine is. The first 200 hours are the most critical apparently. Turn the contrast and brightness down to 50% and try not to have static images on screen for long periods.

BTW: If your set doesn't have any image retention tools built in; try just displaying static / snow (you know, like from a badly tuned channel) overnight. That should help. There are some specialist DVD's out there too which show solid colours over-and-over to help get rid of retention.

now have a permanant "Best Lap" etc

hope it was a good score ;)

anyway it's not a burn, it's image retention. it goes away after a while, otherwise check your settings there is usually some software app that will "wash" it away

I use my 42" LCD on my PC also and get image retention often. I usually leave it on a plain white screen with the brightness at 100 when I go out for a few hours. Also, unplugging it from the AC power over night will help.

Is there a way he can adjust his PS3 screen settings? I have a hunch he left his TV on at one point and walked away... Mine dims after five minutes of disuse...

Kinda strange but my LCD started doing it with GT5 as well. I've had it for 4 or 5 years so it could be coincidence, but the first time I noticed the burn in was the night I got GT5.
