Anyone else tried using the Auto Union Type C in the Classic Racing car event?

Yes, this event rears it's ugly head once again. I remember a lot of panic about how to get gold on this event on GT5. In the end on GT5 I won the XJ13 on another event and used that. On this one I don't think any prize cars would compete in this event so you're left to buy one. So I saw the Auto Union racecar, and remembered how surprisingly fast it was on GT5, despite it being built in 1930. I also remembered how you couldn't actually race it in GT5 for some reason, so now was my chance to see what it was like.

So I bought it and tuned it for about 575'000 credits. It keeps up with the Toyota 7's and the Chaparals fine on Silverstone and Apricot Hill, however on Monaco I keep having the same problem, this corner

It literally cannot turn round it. I'm not sure why, it may be the length of the car, but while around every other corner it's fine, it quite blatantly has a problem on this one. Even handbraking fails to solve the problem. It adds an extra 5-10 seconds+ to my laps on this making it impossible to catch the Chaparals and Toyotas. I really don't want to have to spend another 1.1 million on a Toyota 7 just to get an extra two stars. Anyone else encountered this problem and/or have a solution? Maybe a suspension tuning can fix it?

I used the Cobra Daytona Coupe that is part of the 15th anniversary collection. It took a few tries to get it right though. I kept passing the 2J and then he'd pass me right back. I had to time it just right and then block like crazy without messing up a move.

The Auto Union was in GT5?

You will never get the car to go around that bend, the turning circle is way too big and to be fair the car is built to go fast in a straight line,

The slower it goes, the less it's able to turn. It drives nothing like it did in GT4; in GT6 it's undriveable as is. I'd like to see a ballast free tune for it.

I'm pretty sure the auto union was not in GT5....

Also, the car was built to be a speed record car and therefore not meant to turn. Hence the near zero turning radius. I don't think there's a way around it.

Sorry I meant GT4, not GT5. Thanks for the replies, it's turning circle is not great on other corners but I certainly found it drivable, it's just that Monaco corner that really gets me.

You can do other two tracks with AU but not Monaco > car gets stuck in U turn >I used upgraded cobra from ann edition an made it after 10 races :D

I haven't tried it in this car but would it be possible to wall ride round the corner? Not that I promote wall riding but if you want to save them credits and it works it could be an option.

Right I've finished it, thankfully. I used zujca's suggestion and tuned up a Dodge Challenger, which won the Monaco race. I was quite lucky though as the top cars in that race were two Ferrari P4s, I don't think I'd have won were I against Chaparal 2Js/Toyota 7s. The Auto Union then works fine for the other two.

It's turning circle is still so poor when it's going at slow speeds that wall riding is counter productive.
