Anyone Else Want to See Drag Racing Become a Thing

As we all know there are three drag racing missions, but it would be awesome if we could set up our own custom drag races. Pick a random car or a garage car and go to the strip! Maybe it will come later and all that jazz, but I want to be able to do the drag racing like anything else. I am surprised we can't do it.
 
Yeah I'd love to see that option, maybe just have it as a course layout under SSRX when you select it in Custom Race. Picking that would automatically default you to one opponent, TC disabled and opponent chosen from garage.

Or make its own thing and just have the drag event selectable from SSRX. There's a couple ways they could go about it. Custom would probably be ideal though.

I genuinely don't understand GT's history with drag racing.

GT2: Removed at the very last minute; only the two drag cars remain.
GT3: LOL, wat dat?
GT4: Actually the best in the franchise.
GT5: Left to your own devices from what I remember
GT6: Left to your own devices from what I remember
GT Sport: LOL, wat dat?
GT7: There's some drag races. In missions. And that's it, if you want more do it yourself and leave us alone.
 
Should be a feature, don't see why not. Driving related and competitive. Either vs the AI or custom races vs players. He'll, allow players to pay into a pool in a winner takes all high stakes drag race.

Doesn't interest me personally but doesn't bother me either. More fun opportunities for more people!
 
They spent all that time to program it and even have a specialised track conveniently marked with distance markers every 100m. They even went through all that trouble of making a few missions out of it, and coded in bespoke fireworks at the side of the tracks for when you win. Why would they make it a feature that everyone has access to? Doesn't make sense to me.

Exactly! It's like they did 99% of the work and then stopped right before the finish line (no pun intended).

I used a Nissan GTR with a punch of HP mods, RS tires, and NOS!

I smoked that fool in a fully tuned SRT-10 Viper with a 200kg ballast right over the tail, it took a few attempts but once i got a good launch (gentle on the throttle from first to second) i gapped him. EDIT: forgot to be clear that NOS was used too, once id got up a few gears

It's been one of the most requested features here on GTPlanet for as long as I've been coming here. Pre-release of GT4 IIRC.

GT has flirted (and I use the term loosely) with Drag stuff throughout the franchise history, but only ever enough for people to be disappointed. PD is great at that lol

I seem to remember HEAPS of Drag lobbies being created back in either GT5 or GT6, but this just boiled down to lining up next to each other and doing a run on a set track somewhere, there was no structure to it.
 
Never understood why this feature isn't available in the custom races menu, at the very least for SSRX which is the only track that is perfect for drag races.
If devs made actual drag racing missions with exclusive drag racing features, why can't it be applied to an online lobby and custom race? Another thing that it should've been here on day 1 and yet it will take months to be in the game.

Not like I enjoy drag racing, but a lot of people do, and it makes no sense to add for an individual mission in the game and not for anything else.

It's in Forza, so surely Sony's flagship car game should have it too.
In Horizon 4 I have an Austin-Healey Sprite which is upgraded/tuned to the max and eats Hypercars for breakfast.....
 
This would be great, but only if the silly VGT cars weren’t permitted. There’d be no realism to the experience if your highly developed, fine tuned 8 second R32 GTR was obliterated by a fantasy toy car that anyone could run stock and beat any car.

Actually, you can apply this to the rest of the game. And yes, I know there’s a thread for that 😏
 
I get the draw to drag racing and all, but like drifting, it's also something I personally do not necessarily look forward to more of.

Yeah, GT7 really does need "permitted car types" for online modes, like only road cars, no VGTs, JDM only etc.

Cold hard proof the guy at the top is a total idiot.

I think i ran every car i owned in GT4 at the strip. Supra GTR and 3000gt were the main no doubt.
