Anyone go shopping yesterday?

I got up a 5 AM to hit the stores with my lady-friend, and let me tell you, the Chirstmas spirit is all around.

"Get the hell outta my way" Merry Christmas to you, too.

I was shoved, pushed and given dirty looks more times than I care to remember, all in the name of getting that $10 spotlight 2 minutes before someone else. Oh well, my dad got some nice Drakkar cologne for half-off for Christmas from me, so I guess that's good.

I fail to see the point of the day after Thanksgiving shopping frenzy. Does tryptophan make you want to spend money? I have a feeling the retail industry put the tryptophan into the turkey and is controlling our minds with it. It's either tryptophan or flu-shots.

I had a good experience shopping yesterday. If anyone is in the Toronto area and is looking for a place to shop, try the Bay and Bloor area, it's not very crowded, and it's easily accesible by subway. Beware of some high prices though, as these are mostly high end shops in this area, although there are plenty of places with sales on, and of course, many familiar chain stores (Gap, Indigo, Chapters, etc).

And, now I have my eye on a Calsonic Skyline model I found at a motorsports store. This is the first time I've ever actually wanted a model car! (A static model that is).

I don't like going to malls or shopping emporiums during the rest of the year as it is...too many idiots looking one way and walking another, and now-a-days, yakking loudly on the cell phone.

I damn sure don't go shopping from Thanksgiving until well after New Years. So if you didn't get your Christmas wish list into me before now, you're S.O.L.

Me and my friend just walked around the mall yesterday and boy was it crowded.

This year and last year we visited my sister for Thanksgiving, then stayed 0ver in a hotel before spending Black Friday at King Of Prussia mall, one of the biggest malls on the East Coast. We just go for the experience and to laugh at all the insane people; if we get some Christmas shopping done, that's just a bonus. It's usually fun.

Yesterday it seemed very busy, so it looks like the retail season is off to a good start.

If we were meant to bump shoulders in shopping malls, we wouldn't have online shopping.

What's Black Friday?

I'm with Famine on the shopping thing. I try and avoid the retail experience wherever possible.

Although, I have noticed that one of the fringe benefits of having a child is that you're up early in the morning, so can get to the shops before the crowds.

I was prepared for BF04 this year. I went out at midnight on Thursday Night. I was in need of a TV card and Sound Card for my current PC project. So, as I went to CompUSA, I had to drive past Best Buy. There were already 30-40 people in line for Best Buy at 12:30 in the morning. And I thought I was nuts. But, never-the-less, I got every item I was hunting for, including 2 lava lamps at Menards. :D

And, for all that don't know it, Black Friday @ GottaDeal.com is the best Black Friday site out there.

I can't do any Christmas shopping this year as i'm trying to save $1,500 for the Skyline before i pick it up when we go up to Dad's at Xmas.

Driving Force Pro is the next on the list and then i start saving for a second Skyline (no i'm not joking).

My parents left at five AM to go shopping. I wouldn't have been caught dead in a store. I hate shopping. They have everything they are going to give for Christmas. The lines were horrible. The checkout line at Best Buy was five hours long. Other lines were 3+ hours long.

I somehow got in and out of the REI thats in one of the busiest malls in Denver, in 10 or 20 mins. Although, this was towards the end of the day, so that probably helped.

I want to know what type of moron is willing to waste 3-5 hours of their life waiting in a line at Best Buy? It's just a sale, it's not like they are handing out the meaning of life...

And on a semi-related note, anyone already being driven nuts by the crappy christmas music being played nearly everywhere?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the US. Many people have it as a holiday or take it off to make a long weekend. Traditionally it kicks off the US Christmas shopping season, and is usually the biggest volume day of the year.

We go shopping for the fun of it and we never actually try to get anything done. I'd never remotely consider standing in line for 3 hours somewhere. We do the bulk of our actual purchasing online as well.

Do you live in Madison? The line for the eastside location went into the Kohls parking lot nearly 1600 ft away.

Since I can tell both you and Cardude2004 both live in Wisconsin, did you hear about Mayfair shutting down the mall, due to the entire roadways surrounding it being full? They blasted it on the radios and everything. Good thing I was in Brookfield. :D

I live about 25 miles from Milwaukee. I live almost equal distance between Milwaukee and Madison. I heard about Mayfair mall closing. It was all about some dumb person who thought that this guy had a bomb. The guy had a paint can with a plastic head on top, they thought it was a bomb. My father got stuck in the traffic with the rush of people to evacuate the mall. They gave the people at the theater passes to come back later.

I lived in Milwaukee until I was in fifth grade. My mother still works in Milwaukee.

My parents went shopping in Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and Appleton. My fathers mother lives in the Fox Valley.
