It's on this weekend from Qatar.

Worldwide TV info

I've just watched the preview program and they've got 650hp, weigh 612kg and don't have traction control. It should be good action - Hans Stuck was sliding it loads at South Africa last year.

I've put this in the F1 forum which isn't technically right but they are all ex F1 drivers.

Too bad there's no live coverage in Canada. Doesn't seem to be any coverage at all. TSN may show the highlights from ESPN since they're same company, but I doubt it.

We don't get A1GP over here either... OLN shows A1GP in States, but for some reason, OLN Canada doesn't show A1GP.

I won't be watching it since I don't have sky, but I watched the first race and wasn't impressed. The race was much of a procession, but worse than that was the fact the cars were lapping several seconds a lap slower than the pole time. I understand most of the field is getting a bit advanced in years, but it's still supposed to be racing. This one might be better, but who knows?

Translation: SportsCenter will show highlights if there's been a fatality or a colossal wreck. :ouch:

What channel is OLN? I'm curious.

Oh, the one with the leaves, just a few channels away from Speed Channel.

I admit to secretly watching the hunting every so often.

So, the car, with Hans Stuck, was not able to be turned properly, and, thus, had to slide around?

Har, har, har, That's Puntastic!

I saw the race last year at Kyalami and it was kind of boring but that will most likely change as the drivers get comfortable with the cars. I want to see Lammers beat Mansell hehe.

The gap between drivers is too great. Im sure we will see some drivers get health problems through races. Some of the guys are like dinosaurs and havent got the stamina to keep up with the younger ones.

Mario Andretti should get back into the driver's seat and show 'em how it's done. He had no problems running 500 mile Champ Car oval races back in 1994 (at the age of 54). Hell, he has better stamina than many younger drivers!

I think there's big difference between racing on an oval track and a "conventional" track with a lot of corners and braking points etc, concerning "stamina". :)
Tracks with many corners and braking points are more tiring and strenuous than an oval track.

The drivers have to be a minimum of 45 years old. "Younger" is certainly going to be relative; Fernando Alonso isn't going to get a chance to drive them for at least another 20 years!

Kind of 👎 race... every minute someone touched the sand, no great passes and the Safety Car went in two times (4 laps each time!!! :yuck: ).
The track doesn't help a bit either being in the middle of the desert, and the organization was poorly done during the race.
Nice job from the pilots though.. only 24 laps but the heat was +31ºC the whole race.

Wish the next one with more action around...

Ahem... The IndyCar World Series (now known as the Champ Car World Series) had a diverse mix of oval/road/street racing. :D

As for open wheel oval racing... IndyCars/Champ Cars raced at 240 MPH on superspeedways. Drivers were constantly dealing with 3 - 5 Gs at tracks like Michigan Int'l Speedway.
