Anyone notice these imperfections?

Did anyone else besides me notice a few rough detailing edges with the premium cars? ive noticed three of them.. and one error in general regardless of car.. they are-
1. Ferrari California- The top taillights DO NOT light up when the car is braking.. instead the blinkers do
2. Ferrari F430- the driver makes the hand motion like the car is a stick shift when he should in fact be flipping the paddles
3. Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI- in the photo mode.. you can clearly see that this car has the V8s valve covers INSTEAD OF the V10s...
4. Toscana Course Maker- Regardless of what configuration you choose.. none of the brake lights for any of the cars light up under braking..

Come on Polyphony... you spend 6 years working on this game... and these got away from you? i might be a touch perfectionist, but seriously if theyre going to flaunt the details of the premium cars to that point.. then ALL the cars should have ALL the details 100% CORRECT.

Ya. They're there. So are similar errors in other games. With 1,000+ cars you're bound to mess something up. If you want, they could have put the game out another 10 years from now and made it perfect.

they had 6 years... maybe they couldve.. i dont know... cut one or two lancers from the standard category and gotten these right instead.. because two of these cars happen to be Ferraris.. so everyones going to go for them.. and see the flaws..

It's not that simple. Ever written a 40,000 page essay, then proofread it? Good luck catching every single mistake. And those 4 things you mentioned do not ruin the game for 99%of players.

There's a scene in the original StarWars where they forgot to color Darth Vader's light saber, so instead of glowing red, it's just a white plastic stick in his hand.

I had to boycott all the films after seeing that! </sarcasm>

Point of interest, sure. Big deal? Err, no.

Will people always complain about something?

What about what they did right? The game is in gorgeous 1080p.....the scenery looks fantastic. Overall, the game is really awesome.

I havent driven a ferrari yet and ive played gt5 extensively.

i guess i was being a bit harsh

No you were not. As a consumer you are entitled to claim a finished and polished product which was what you paid for, as a fanboy you can let everything pass as irrelevant and focus on the good things only.

It's your choice and nobody else's, unlike other guys here may think.

P.S. The ZR1 race modified has broken lights on the right side too. If you look for these details you'll find hundreds.

You're right, everybody here who doesn't get caught up in minute and meaningless stuff is a fanboy.

You're right, though, as a customer you have a right to demand a finished and polished product. Everything has a cost associated with it, and everything has trade-offs. While I'd certainly like to see those things fixed that the OP mentioned, they'd be way down on my priority list. How much do you think the game would have been further delayed if somebody said "get rid of every silly little thing in the game, or it's not going up for sale"? At some point, they had to say "ok, let's get it on the shelf", and here we are.

You can demand A/C in a Lamborghini, but it might not be very good A/C. You'd think that in a 250,000 dollar car, by God, everything would be perfect, but the A/C might be like a mouse breathing at you across an ice cube. And for 250,000 dollars, you'd think the car would be reliable. But you might just want to check Lamborghini's service history before you plunk down your quarter million dollars. You may be surprised how little your quarter million gets you. We have what, 60 bucks invested? Sometimes you just gotta say "it is what it is".

I will say this, it's a good spot, and very observant. It's interesting what little things might have slipped through, and I'm glad he noticed it.

Do you realize the cost/benefit of GT5?? This game is just sooo complete and full of material than many other 60 bucks game.
But I guess that if you are into the "half empty glass" wave, nothing will be ever perfect...that's a hard life to live.
PD: Not a fanboy, just my 2 cents...

You guys are talking to a really hardcore GT player. I love GT, I've played in almost a sick way all the games in the series since I got a copy of the Japanese GT1 which was released earlier in Japan and bought a Japanese PSX just to play it (I do not mod my consoles).

I might even be considered a fanboy, but as I said on another thread:

We need to fight against unfinished products. Video games are in great decadence nowadays, what will we have left to play in a few years if we keep tolerating all these glitches and poorly planned or rushed games?

In the end, it's Sony's fault, they pressured really hard PD to release the game as is, MARVELOUS on the physics department, being a pleasure to drive the cars, but unbalanced, glitchy and, etc... You know the rest...

Gran Turismo is a series marketed as a game for everyone from the everyday car lover to racecar drivers training for real life courses (if you don't believe me on that watch the video in Prologue about the making of). For those who really love cars it does take something away when certain details are given excruciating effort yet there is still carelessness involved.

It's not like Kazunori Yamauchi is designing this game by himself, and it isn't like PD didn't have five other games to learn from (and the above poster's comment about Sony makes sense). And honestly I think companies like Ferrari would and should be a little peeved at these mistakes. Their cars are misrepresented, albeit in minute degrees.

And don't get me wrong I freaking love GT also since #1 but it's the right of all of us to point out these issues so perhaps they might be corrected in updates or future versions. Most of us don't just want to drive as fast as possible and look at shiny things, we want the real deal. Which is what Gran Turismo claims to be, and in almost every respect I believe it is.

Also not to take away of the many things they did brilliantly, which obviously all of us enjoy.

since we are theoretically racers racing, I dont mind visual imperfections as long as the overall effect is high quality. If the immersion is there I'm hooked...on the other hand seemingly silly stuff like V-6 powered Z-28 Camaros' really detract from my immersion,
even though I'll probably be the only one to ever mention that it is never the less something that for example prevents me from driving the car I drive in real life in the game.
IF they fix that I'll be spending hundreds of extra hours playing..and I'm sure there will be other things that make me wish for a better game but like others have said for $60 its an amazing entertainment value. And as Greger Huttu can tell you, it teaches you how to behave on the street or race track when you get into the "welly"

Ok, any obese guy can feel satisfied by spending 60 bucks at McDonald's too. This is not about how much you paid for a game, this is about how much the quality of video games has been dropping nowadays.

maybe the quality is dropping but GT5 was good enough to suck in this old time PC simracer who pretty much swore no console could compete with my PC...no other sim did it... once I stopped driving GPL(only 2 years ago) the rest of the sims seemed fakey, only SportCar GT somehow made me grin even though the physics were, well, fun. BUT if Kaz lets them make GT5/6 for the PC well all bets are off :D

Another imperfection is on the Nurburgring GP/F at the chichane are about 5 or 6 white moveable blockades go and run into them displace them onto the track and then look in the rear view mirror they are not there, do another lap and you will find them on the track, but again they do not appear in the rear view mirror though. Now i know there are cars with imperfections too i want my ££ back i have been duped, i bought GT5 to play a racing simulator and i got a half hearted attempt at getting over 1000 cars perfect and a handful have glitches on. I suggest we march through the streets all the way to PD's head office and protest until we get our ££ back, what a poor programming by Poly digital to do this to us. It stinks of conspiracy to defraud the PS3 users of hard earned ££/$$.

That's not a glitch... That's the game limiting what it renders to keep the polygon budget in check.

If you watch the rear view mirror you will notice a LOT of things not being rendered... Even the track isn't rendered in full detail.

But the important things like that 2J trying to get in position to pass you... Those are there.

CRCError1970 well i have to say that not being able to see behind me in full graphical content and a few errors on some cars has completely ruin my experience of GT5 .. I take no notice of the extreme detail put into 1000 other cars with thier styling ,physical handling and dynamics of each car and the fact that the track i can see ahead is in detail and rendered properly. I feel agrieved i spent £40 on this rubbish !!

(obviously said tongue in cheek - for those unhappy with the game and it's fault i suggest you take a course in console game construction , then compile a racing game with 1000 cars in full detail with tracks that replicate real ones and then produce it for sale at a reasonable price. I would love to play YOUR perfect simulator instead this garbage i bought. I am so pleased you pointed this out all the faults in the game otherwise i would never know how much i had been ripped off. )

my 2005 330i looks like a 12 ounce coke can going down the track its rendered so badly.. the Accord too.. i noticed the glitch with the ZR1 RM by the way.. i just never noticed it earlier since the car is yellow.. i just saw a thread about some guys having to reinstall already purchased parts on their cars... this happens to me.. im trading the game back until they fix it. thats just unacceptable, agree with me here we already spend ****loads of cash modifying the car the first time (i always go for a full tune).. no reason to have to do it again

My Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car (Silver) has inoperative brake lights, and a quick search brought me to this thread. There is no perfectly written software, so there is no perfect video game and there probably never will be. Remember, humans are involved. Hopefully PD pays attention to all the feedback (negative and positive) on these forums so GT6 will be that much better, but still not perfect. In the meantime, I will enjoy this game and pay attention to my save game file size. LOL

1. Ferrari California- The top taillights DO NOT light up when the car is braking.. instead the blinkers do

It's actually like that on the real car as well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrLXIEzX--w&feature=related).

For the other things you're right though, but like other people have said already, there are always some mistakes, especially with so many cars in the game. I don't really care about them myself, wouldn't even notice these things since I'm looking at the track more than the car. :p They might fix these things some day though, shouldn't be hard to fix.

Agree 100%!

Truth be told this game is literally a hunk of **** and an extremely good example of what a crappy game is. GT4 and 3 were leaps and bounds better and I shake my head every time I play this game even though I love it so much.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 just came out, I guarantee it is so much better and such a funner game.

I would literally sue PPD for false advertising and every other thing I could over this game if I had the money.

Yeah, I get the sarcasm... I just don't get why you directed it at me. I was just pointing out that the reduced detail in the rear view was not a glitch, but a necessity for rendering speed. I even start the post with "That's not a glitch" :indiff:

Or just had less cars in it, like most other driving games seem to manage perfectly well with.

One of the things that annoys me about the premium cars is some of the highlighting. I have a blue RS6 and I was watching one of my spec B dudes drive it round Laguna and the panel gaps on the doors reflect so much light they appear white. Really spoils the effect.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

The same Test Drive Unlimited 2 that shipped with game crashing, save file deleting bugs? The same Test Drive Unlimited 2 that freezes on the load screen permanently? Test Drive Unlimited 2, the game so loaded with game crippling issues so bad that even the biggest shill video game sites are telling people to hold off on buying it until a patch resolves some of the deep, game breaking bugs?

Yeah, bro, go buy Test Drive Unlimited 2! I'm sure it is "so much better and such a funner game"!
