Anyone still playing GT6 and GT Sport?

I'm interested in handling, tire model and physics changes between the two, and I must confess, I'm having a REALLY hard time thinking that GTS has actually improved. In fact, I really think it has been a huge back step for the franchise.

Forget car and track list for now, I'm strictly focusing on car physics and tire choice.

Do those of you that still play on GT6 every now and again think there's been any overall improvement? I remember Spec2 GT5, and the huge improvement in car suspension, and GT6's further refinement there. But is anyone prepared to say (that isn't simply remembering rather than still playing) that things have really got better? I feel so disconnected with the cars and the tires now...

I managed to get my group of friends together on Friday night and have a GT6 wake. One final GT6 night before the servers are shut on the 28th.

It was a great night :-) Midfield, Deep Forrest and yes, even London (as a joke), network incompatabilities, blocky graphics, poor sounds .......... but I digress.

So we even discussed this during the night, the differences with GT Sport.

The first thing we all noticed and commented on was how well the brakes worked in GT6 and then how much grip the tyres (and some cars) had. e.g. a 550PP MP12C on Comfort Soft at Midfield and then Grand Valey, it was like it was on rails. We also ran a GT500 race on Sports Soft (as we always used to do) and that feels just so right.

So yes, I am prepared to say that GT Sport is an improvent as the tyres do feel more right (less grip) across the range. It still is nowhere at the sophistication level as Assetto Corsa but is at least a step in the right direction. GTS still feels very "arcady" and all the cars feel bland because they mostly all drive the same.

Another noticable difference was when you touched the grass the car would lose control or spin, not like GTS where it just keeps on at the same pace >:-(

Oh and how the cars would slide around (controllably!!) :-) I'm sure all the drifters out there miss this.

As we all commented on while playing GT6 and refering to GT Sport "don't worry about the quality, just be amazed at the pretty graphics" ;-)

IMHO a better game would be GT Sport with GT6 physics (and tracks .... and cars) ;-)

So it was a great night and we farewelled "an old friend" with the due dilligence it demanded. We will all miss GT6 and will remember it quite fondly.

GT6 RIP 2018

I've driven cars around in real life at speeds that were (barely!) legal, and I honestly felt that, at those lower speeds, the grip and feel was better in GT6. I have a nasty suspicion there is something REALLY wrong with GTS's low speed tire model. Get right up close to the edge, and yes, things improve a bit, but it's still that numb feeling. Launches illustrate this low speed issue more than anything else, but it explains why low speed traction just has more of that zamboni feel than any other game.

Haven't played AC yet (waiting for the new 'complete' package out next month or so) but I play primarily PC2 these days. Night and day. Feel like I have tires on now, not greased up blocks of wood! Try launching in PC2, it's realistic, which bodes well for the lower speed handling model.

TBH, GTS's addition of the Ultra Soft slicks simply shows what is going on here. RS's used to be on rails in GT6. That's now the wheelhouse of the RSS's. You wanted to drift in GT6, CH were the tire of choice. SH now do the job. IMHO, the tires didn't get more realistic, they just changed the badge on them!

Bottom line, for a 'game' rather than a 'sim', I think GT6's model made for cleaner racing and more fun. Essentially, GTS has put us all on tires several grades worse than we used to use, and it hasn't helped! I could race on CH with PP400+ cars and still feel connected to the road. GTS's SS's don't even give me that, anymore.

We will all miss GT6 and will remember it quite fondly.

GT6 RIP 2018

Killed off by a company more concerned with eye candy than how a car drives... 👎

I honestly think I'd play a PS4 GT6 without a single eye candy improvement than what PD foisted off on us at full price, too! At least GT5Prologue reflected its dearth of content in a lower price...
