Anyone use the Race Line to avoid AI contact?

Anyone else use the Race Line to avoid getting smacked by the AI? I typically turn off Racing Lines.., but sometimes if a title has line driven AI.., I'll leave it on (especially) for when it gets crowded.

I use the race line to know where NOT to be when other cars are all around me.., and it actually works :) Anyone else?

i use the line to help me brake.. and also to stay out of the way of the other AI cars when they brake so they dont rear end me into a trap.

I constantly used the race line, in fact , got kind of dependent on it for braking and particularly blind corners, until I got to the Advanced AMG Driving "Special" on the Nur. Nord. On this one the raceline is removed, no option . I was surprised at how manageable it was without it, in fact even a bit liberating. I'd suggest that its good to use for the first few laps of a new track until you get to know the curves, cambers and braking distances but after that its better to drive it the way you feel it rather than following the line.
As for using it to avoid the AI, I suppose that would work some of the time but some of the AI driving is so arsey that you cant guarantee it.

I think the race line can be a bit off...
I've also noticed that the AI does not always follow it... wich makes me wonder is this even is the correct lines.
Sometimes I ignore the line completely and do 'mah thing', and have the feeling I'm faster this way.

I still use it though, mostly to know when to break or when I don't know the track completely (it's a b*tch to expect a soft long turn, and than it turns out to be a hairpin...)

Then what does it teach? It actually slows down the process of learning the track because it draws your attention down. It doesn't help when you have trafic around you. The brake indicators are off...

Edit: I apologise for the harsh tone. I should not write to these formus when upset. Nevertheless i stand by my opinion that using the line can be harmfull for one's developement as a (sim)driver. That said everyone is free to play the game the way they want. :)

Never use it! Ever! It teaches you bad habits and makes you a bad driver. 👎

lol, it doesnt make you a bad driver.

There are times the racing line is a bit off, tells you to brake while cornering.
but any driver with some logical thinking can always correct for these.

Without the driving line is very cool too. Once you learn the track you dont need it, and the drive looks way cooler.

Comment on the ops question: I avoid the driving line while overtaking the AI. The AI follows the driving line all the time. Its a good way to know where they are gonna be on the road. also very helpful when blocking the AI.

I personally like to avoid the AI by using the steering wheel & occassionally the brakes ... Real racing doesn't include a driving line :)

I don't need the racing line for blocking the AI / overtaking, I find it is just a natural thing that you know where to place the car / I don't think I've ever had to block offline? Even in a slower car! :P

(But I agree it is useful for learning tracks such as the Nurburgring)
