http://www.energyfiend.com/2007/02/spike-shooter-banned-from-high-schools (also in the link you can find more nutritional/news info. on this drink)

Right now they pulled them too from 7-11 stores...but who knows, they may be bringing them back to the stores. Mainly found in California and Colorado; originally a dietary supplement. Think you'd wanna drink one of these? Says it shouldn't be consumed by anyone under 18, and that you REALLY should drink only half of it to tell how immune you are to it...otherwise you may be the reason why it got banned at the school in the above link mentioned.

So how 'bout it, GTP?

I have got to try that!

Has anyone here had one?

They sell these at GNC, same warnings as Spike, but hasn't caused any bans. Also this is mainly for exercise supplement. 250mg of caffeine in comparison in an 8 ounce container.

From what I can tell it isn't just the caffeine that can really hurt you if you are sensitive to caffeine (raising your heart-beat too high, being rushed to ER, etc) it's all the extra stuff in it that makes it useful for exercise.

Meh, that's no different to alcohol. They wouldn't try to ban alcohol if a load of teenagers stumble dinto school after downing bottles of vodka so why is this any different.

However, that drink is rediculous a tad strong. Why don't they only sell it in amounts that can be drunk in one go?

There's plenty of energy drinks on the shelves over here, just do abit of label checkin to find the strongest.

You all do realize, that No-Doz and Vivarin come in 200mg doses. ITs far easier to carry a few of those in your pocket, and pop one when you need a boost.
300 mg, ? No reason to ban it from a high school. Keep kids awake in Class? no... We wouldn't want that. Our teachers would actually have to teach someone.

Pardon the sarcasm, It's early, and I'm already in a bad mood.

There's a difference between awake and hyperactive kids. A huge difference.

Plus the two drinks were originally intended for excercise/diet supplement...(the spike drink may or already is beginning to market it also as a very strong warning labeled energy drink for the energy drink crowd)

1. Why would someone want to just take a pill when they could enjoy the refreshing taste of an energized drink?
OR if someone just wants the caffeine boost they can take the pills...

2. As I stated, you can get the redline at GNC, so should they ban those too? They are almost equally as strong.

^Nice one

The closest we have to that over here is prolly Red bull or Jolt cola(mmm)

Red Bull tastes like liquid Sweet-Tarts and Jolt is just a joke.

Just an FYI:

Monster tastes like wet ass on a hot day.

Oh it does?:D I've gotta try...oh wait.

Hot day.

That's the 16 ounce hot blend, and caffeine levels vary, but compare that to an easy 8.4 ounce refrigerated can.

Like Der Alta said, caffiene pills are 200mg's themselves. Seems just like marketing hype to me.

I don't understand how this can be legal, when marijuana isn't. This is totalt crap, and they did 100% right banning them from schools.

If it tastes anything like a Rockstar, I'll be passing if I ever see it. Just too nasty.

I'm concerned that you know what wet ass on a hot day, tastes like. You really need to pay more attention to sanitary related issues in your preferences.

And back on topic...

If they ban this, where do we draw the line?
Caffeinated lip balm?

Cafeinated Hand Lotion?

Caffeinated Gum?

Since Ben Johnson was caught, I've been advocating for non-drug tested sporting events. Ben Johnson was caught using steroids in the 100 meter dash. He simply smoked the competition, and was minimal amounts of steriods so he wouldn't get caught. There is testing for recent blood transfusions, the testing is so rigorous its reached a point where the bodys natural reactions are coming up as positives.

Runners can't drink coffee, or tea. I say juice em all up, and let the records be destroyed.

Yes, there is. Hyperactivity is a situation that people will have to deal with their entire lives. Control over your body and its reactions are the responsiblity of the parents, and the child. If the child cannot behave in class, they get sent to the prinicipals office, and discisplined.

Then again, discipline in schools is nearly shot anyways.

Red Bull tastes like rotten lime soda to me.

Have you tried the Sugar Free version yet?

I feel it has a smoother taste than the regular.

Because so far there is no connection between caffeine and mental conditions.

It grows on you. But if you really want to make it better, a shot of Jaeger helps it go down nicely...

Wow. That's pretty awesome, but I'd probably go into shock if I had an entire can. I can handle a few Rockstars, Red Bulls, Jolts, etc., but not that by a long shot.

I think exactly the same thing with Red Bull, but to me Jolt is like a Coke energy drink kinda.

Rockstar is awesome, I drink it whenever I can. Soo good to me, helps a lot in football season :)
