I'm looking for something to simulate airflow in a self designed airbox. Does anyone have a recommendation to a program that'll do CFD. Preferably one not costing a gazillion dollars and with a sort of sensible learning curve..

Do you have any CAD packages already? If you do, it's probably worth looking what can work with that.

I use CD-adapco Star-Design at university its easy to use and has a lot of online tutorials. I have no idea how much it would cost though.

ProEngineer or ProMechanica has the ability to test air flow and fluid dynamics... student versions only cost about £50 I think if you eligible.

Then again couldn't you just make a model by hand get a fan and pass some smoke through it... it would cost a hell of a lot less and would be more fun!
