Anyway to get the JPN download version to update on a US console?

It sits there and even times out with a caution flag.

Also, do you have to do atleast one race before you can use a download saved game? I downloaded some saved games from the sticky, did the process of copying. They copy shows up under saved game util but when I launch GT5:P, I brings me to the first time use screen where I have no cars and it's asking me to visit the dealer. Help please.
 
It's asking you to go to the dealer because the saved game is for Spec II. You need to update to Spec II before the saved game is recognised. Just keep trying, it will suceed eventually.
 
Thanks! Using a wired connection, it went through the first time. On wireless, it kept timing out. Weird!
