Polite question for the mods...

The 'FF Top Speed Challenge' thread gets moved tonight to Online Racing. Meanwhile, a thread on getting to 300 Miles Per Hour (another Top Speed Challenge type of thread, with people posting their best top speeds) happily resides in Tuning and Settings for many days now.

What's the logic? Surely, if you want to make a move, you should move 'FF Top Speed Challenge' thread to the Tuning and Settings area, where similar threads already reside?

Do we blame the inconsistency on coffee, or anything stronger?

Nah, they just don't like noobies like me.....that's why my thread was shifted and the other wasn't.

Mafs!!

It's a good question, and the answer is that there is some inconsistency where threads end up. From a mod point of view, however, the issue is more one of where the thread doesn't belong, i.e. the Gran Turismo 4 main thread. I'd say that any challenge that involves laptime comparisons belongs in the online racing section, but a challenge that specifically involves tuning and finding the perfect set-up etc. should belong in the Tuning forum. All other type of challenge belong in the on-line racing section too. Incidentally, you can move your own threads by using the admin tools at the bottom left hand corner of the page. I'd recommend not moving a thread back to where it has been moved from (obviously), but otherwise you can move your own thread if you think it is more appropriate elsewhere... :)

Thanks for that info Mars....didn't know I could move it myself. *notes it down* I also didn't realise it wasn't meant for the main section of GT4 so apologies there.

Mafs!!

Arbitrary is pretty close but not exactly...

See, in the "FF" thread the title said it all- "Challenge."

In the other thread it was a question of "What's Your Top Speed?"

There is a difference between the two.
Partly because the Challenge means there is a competition, partly because "the other one" is based on discussion rather than comparison.

In any case, this particular thread is in the wrong place as well.

The "Site Feedback" forum is the proper place for a thread like this because the topic is not about GT4... This thread is about why the mods did what they did.

And so, I would like you to take your discussion to the proper thread in the Site Feedback forum. 👍

There are several threads about the actions of moderators in that forum.
I am sure any complaints you have will be heard.

Also, just so you all know... We don't treat newbs differently and I do not appreciate the accusation that we do. :grumpy:
(if anything we give newbs slack because they don't know the site yet)
