Does anyone know how the matchmaking logic works for the Arcade Mode races? I find the pro-level races to be extremely difficult actually, IF I use the original tires that come with the car. It will even increse the opponent car power to match yours if you've upgraded your car. Not so sure if it will do anything about weight or other upgrades.

It's just too bad you can't earn any credits/exp with these races... they're more interesting than re-running the same old A-Spec races over and over again.

Arcade Mode is a mess (plain and simple). It seems like PD just slapped this Race Mode together less than a week before releasing the title.

How AI vehicle selection is done has no logic. You'd think that out of the 1000+ cars that the system should have more than enough to choose from to provide (equal and balanced races).

I did some tests again last night and it was horrible. I added a sport air filter, a sport clutch, and a sport fly wheel.., and used the default sport hard tires. The AI adapted to what I added to my vehicle and my vehicle was still slower than the lot.

Here's the kicker. With those upgrades.., in the race the vehicle to the right of me was a Lancer Evo. Keeping the same upgrades on the engine and just bumping the sport hard up to sport soft.., the next race replaced that Evo with a ****** Lambo! Even staying in the Sports Tire Category (without making any more adjustments to HP, ect).., but moving from sport hard to sport soft was the difference of racing an Evo and a Lambo 👎

I even did the race with the vehicle with complete default settings and on ALL racing modes (A/B/C) the AI was faster and adapted to everything I did to still have the edge.

Well I've tested it with different tires, and the AI will not adapt if you just upgrade tires. Having better tires definitely makes it easy to win even on pro level.

I'm not sure yet if the AI will adapt to non-HP upgrades though or which ones.

I also notice that if you upgrade your car enough, it will raise the tire setting for the opponet AI above your vehicle's stock tires.

It seems that the cars have all been classified by tire types... I never noticed that before. They should make that more obvious.

That logic doesn't apply to all the cars though. I noticed that on some.., even if you just upgrade the tires.., you're still running slower on the grid. I ran into this several times. I figured just a bump in the clutch would help in some cases.., but the AI adapted to that. With the upgraded tires you got the AI on the corners.., but when you hit the straights it's a completely different story at times.

I did a test last night where the only engine upgrade was a sport filter. I then used that and bounced back and forth between tires within default categories and got some unfavorable results.

I hope PD patches the Arcade Mode. Not getting credits for those races doesn't bother me as much really. I don't race online and the A Spec races get pretty boring repeating them after a while.

I need a good Arcade Mode. I actually pulled GT-5 from my PS3 today for the first time in weeks.., and slapped another racing title in because it has a much better and balanced arcade mode.

They're difficult for sure, but I bet some people would be able to beat them. They could have had a whole set of arcade mode prizes and trophies, for winning beginner, amateur and pro on every track with every arcade mode vehicle, for example.

What? Professional races in arcade are easy to beat (I use stock cars I buy in GT Life mode), except for when I use my stock Fiat 500 08'. Very hard to overtake other 63 hp cars.

But I only race on the Nurburgring with weather/time change so I know the track.

Arcade mode is pretty good as it is. Driving feel is much better than à-spec and the AI is ok-ish. Sounds you need more practice that's all.

Arcade could have been more fun, where you have to finish in the top 2 positions to move on to the next race. Also if you win the race, then you could recieve a one off payment, or the car improvement. Also arcade championships, of 3 races, 5 races or 7 races, with positional points, if you win again receive a one off payment and xp.

Also the more you play arcade, you open up new tracks and more cars and more car improvements.

In most Arcade races where the cars are non-RM or race cars (Super GT cars for example), the tires used by the AI cars are usually S3 (Sport Soft).

One way to gauge, determine and calibrate your ability to that of the AI is to do a quick (a couple of laps on track you're planning to race)- using the Live timing view look at the lap times the AI opponents are clocking. The look at yours and then adjust the type of tires to use. I find the move from Comfort Soft to Sport Hard usually give me 1.5 to 2 seconds for each minute, and about the same from Sport Hard to Sport Medium.
