(I'm sorry if this was covered somewhere but I couldn't find it specifically).

So I was under the mistaken impression that what you did to your (favorite) cars in Arcade mode would not actually affect the cars in GT Life. Wrong. Running about a dozen laps in Arcade mode last night decreased my horsepower rating and added to my overall mileage driven in my stats and total mileage on the car(s) in question. I didn't think there was a link between Arcade mode and GT Life. Indeed there is. And if there is, what's the point to even really have an Arcade mode? And what's the difference between Practice Mode within the GT Life section and Arcade mode? I can't find any. Is it just pure duplication? Am I missing something? Does this make sense? Is there something you can do in one but not the other? Am I wrong in thinking that Arcade mode should, in principle, operate independently of GT Life?

You can drive the stock car in the default list that you don't own in GT Life. Thats about it....The lap time you set in Time Trial in Arcade mode also carries over in the track stats in GT Life also.

So that's it? I just don't get it? Why even have a practice mode in GT Life if it's the same thing? Does anybody else think this is a mistake and Arcade Mode activity is not supposed to affect GT Life?

I don't know about it being a mistake. I don't want to log in and log out constantly when I want to practice with my cars, and I might want to access cars thats not in my favorite list. At the same time I might want to test drive cars that I don't own for whatever reason....

Just to throw another thing into the mix..

if you practise online (in your lounge) does your car put on miles...?
I spend more time in this mode tuning, I get to learn the tracks as I'd race them online..

I'll need to take a zero mile car online and see how many miles it has back in the garage of GT-Life after some laps online..

This one I can answer. Yes. At least as of the last patch. But it makes sense to me.

ok I took a brand new car online and did 10 laps of laguna.. in car I can see the miles piling on :)

Back in the garage in GT-Life mode it still says 0 miles..?

Why?

:dunce::lol: I give up. It makes no sense. And yet, running those miles online will cause the power to drop until you do an oil change.

That drives me insane, one of my only real big complaints with GT Life and GT5, I actually like to see the miles I put on certain cars.

About a month ago, I test-drive the F40 in Arcade Mode (didn't chose Practice because I hadn't try Arcade Mode yet). When I chose my track, 16 cars, all matching or approximates the F40's performance, came up on the track. This was versus the 12 cars in Practice Mode when you choose the One-Make Option. Another difference is that cars pit like in Endurance races (It was raining on the track). These were the differences that were really comparable to Practice Mode. However, the entire race was purely awesome.

I like racing againest a varity of cars, not just one like in practice mode. I noticed racing in arcade mode counts toward your total mileage in GT Life, but it doesn't put any miles on the cars you own. Which Is why I rarely use arcade mode.
