Arcade races scripted?

Let's just jump right in. Every time I pic the Gr.4 Atenza, I have to chase down the Megane, Scirocco and RCZ. When I pic the Gr.4 GT-R(fuel & tyre wear maxed, starting 20th, Rolling Start), an M4 leads the race and always pits from first place. Leaving the second place GT by Citroen, vulnerable to a fast pace RC F(which passes the GT), as my target. In Gr.3, using the RC F, two M6s leave the field for dead. They make such a gap over the field, depending on track, I never catch them by the end of a 10 minute race.

The Campaign races are scripted, but Arcade doesn't need to be. Or is that because it IS "Arcade" by name, it must have a pattern?

The AI doesn't follow the same basic rules and physics that the player does. If you watch the replays, the braking points and cornering speeds NEVER change from lap to lap, but somehow their lap times still vary by as much as 15 seconds depending on where you are in the field. It does seem like there is always one or two specific AI(if you want to even call it that) drivers that are pre-chosen to give you the biggest headache.

I understand that. What I thought was: I change tracks and conditions after the race in the menu above. I don't exit out of race screen. When I exited out of the race screen to the Arcade Menu, Custom Race, set up the race. I get the same cars in the same order. Not random. I thought the cars were in the same running order because I wasn't exiting out of the previous race.

Getting the same cars doesnt mean 'scripted'.

In fact its a cornerstone of GT... if you rolled a race and you have cars like the 2J, TS030, BMW McLaren longtail and other formidable competition then you can 're-roll' so they dont come up.

I see what you mean, and it is annoying. What I think would be absolutely brilliant is if they allowed us to make up our own grid with custom liveries. That would be pretty sweet.

No, but the same car doing the same thing is. As i mentioned, if I don't change tyre/fuel wear, the M4 wins. If I speed up tyre/fuel wear, the M4 always pits, giving the 3rd placed RC F the win by the end of the race.

I do not believe campaign or arcade to have "scripted" rivals for certain cars...

I have done a ton of grinding to get the lvl50 trophy -by racing arcade & campaign- the cars that are selected as your opponents are selected at random imho.

Example: blue moon speedway campaign race where you race against N1000. I either use my Shelby Cobra(n400) or the Xbow(n300) to grind this race and my opponents change every single time unless I stay in the menu of the race itself (where you start your race and edit your car setup).

If I back out to the main menu, for example to check what daily car I won after my first race of the day, and then go back to the n1000 blue moon speedway race in the same car, chances are high that the front runner cars have been mixed up. Example: LaFerrari replaced by a Bugatti Veyron, etc...

I could be wrong of course, but I don't think the opponents/rivals are scripted in such a way that GTS recognizes what car it should pick as your main rival in said race.

If you encounter this again, back out to main menu and set up your race again is what I would recommend.

That's what I've done:

Same thing. Still using the GT-R. I'm racing at every road track right now. Started from each configuration of Nurburgring up to each configuration of Tokyo Expressway. Backing out to main menu and changing from Custom Race "Race Sttings" after a race. same cars in the same order. M4 pits leaving the GT and RC F out in front.

A couple cars, mid-pack, down the order may change, but so far, the top three don't. I also see at each start, the Cayman, Atenza and 650S, Megane, Scirocco and RCZ, are in the top 10 always. Bugatti, Vantage, Genesis are always in the last places with me in 20th. Note: The WRX has never been an "opponent" in a race, when I use the GT-R.

I noticed the same in plenty of N300 races. BMW M4, 512bb and Xbow always in the top three places.
If you won or AI won the races, have those cars finished in the same order each time?

Before I forget, I turned the game off to watch a Supercars race yesterday. Afterwards, turned the game back on. Picked the Atenza at Nurb24 and to my surprise, the same line up that I always see when using the GT-R. Even finished the same way.

I ran the set up like the Daily race. 4x tyre/fuel and look at the M4 placing. It actually pit when no other car did. It didn't need to pit to finish.

Yes. I also believe that there's always a red GT40 behind them. Colors don't even change: black M4, red 512 and Xbow with its stock livery.

Have you noticed the driver's names? Back in the GT6 seasonal races there were some drivers that were always the rabbits in the same cars through different seasonals. I remember one of them changed cars once or twice, but he was always the one car that was tough to catch and pass. Maybe PD has applied the same logic in GTS. Anyone remember D. Papp?

I have and the AI drivers change each race.

That's not cool if the colors don't change. I did the 911 GT3 RS Campaign Endurance. Each of those cars, have different colors with made up liveries. Don't know why some of that randomness didn't translate to the "Custom" part of Custom Races.

Aww man that's incredibly disappointing to hear. I hate it when racing games like this are scripted with the same cars doing the exact same thing. :(

For me, it's not a game breaker, but there are cars i like to use, just to look at in replays. So, it gets annoying when there is no randomness to AI car placement.

A few of them changed in other races. For example, I've seen blue and white Alpines or blue and orange Raptors, but in the last three races I did in the past days, the top 3 cars always had the same paintjob.
On a side note, I did the first race with the RB Junior at Nurb. GP. My times were between 2:04 and 2:05, but the fastest lap went to a Japanese AI driver with 1:58:xxx. Pretty crazy for someone who finished in 12th position.

I noticed the same thing... if he’s so much faster than anyone and with such a close field, how is it possible to finish 12th? It also always seem to happen in the last or second to last lap.

Exactly. I should have no chance to beat the AI if they're actually capable of times like that one.

Not sure if the races are scripted, but I do know that the race grids are mostly the same. But if a class gets a new car, then that car does get included in the grid. So there is some change.

Was this with Boost Mode enabled?

Do you also know how It works, exactly? Is it a speed/grip multiplier?
If you ever played GTA Online races you'll know what it is
It results in stuff like this:

The cars overtaken were also at their top speed. The only difference to GTS is that GTA slows down the front runners instead of boosting the back runners.

Worst thing about GTA in my opinion! However on the motorbikes if you wheelie all the way you can outrun the boost.

It's horrible if you are constantly in the front but a blessing if somebody wrecked you off or you spun  But if I'm the host of races I turn it off all the time :D

Thanks. Whatever the game does, It's kinda amazing and I want it on my car too
One AI driver did 51.8xx at Tsukuba yesterday and I couldn't even get close to that time with the RB Junior (my best was 53.9, I think).

It means that the AI magically goes faster than it should, especially on a straight. This can mean that the AI that is driving in the same car or even a slower car than yours, could magically go faster than you. In GT League, this is especially the case with the leader.

The grid in Arcade and custom race is fixed .
Off the top of my head I can tell you the first two cars in Gr 3 are bmw m3's . GR b IS The Quattro and Ford mustang . The grid is always the same .

Definitely. Sometimes the AI goes “super saiyan” and just laps way quicker than the car is actually possible of doing. Suzuka seems to be particularly bad for this. Seeing an old DeTomaso Pantara blast past a pair of Ferrari Enzos in a few corners is ridiculous and well hilarious but I’ve seen it happen!
