Hi im new to the boards and a intermidiate gt3 player. Ive been trying to get the 1st in all the time trial tracks but im stuck on some of them... anyone got any tips... should i turn of asm and tcs (can you shut them off in tt?) or switch to manual trans?must of the tracks im just a second off or so. well thanks for any input guys!

Um, I'm not sure if you can shut off the ASM and TCS in TT in the U.S. version... I remember someone saying that you can in the PAL version though. Just go and check! ;)

Also, you must switch to a manual tranny... the control is far superior (especially entering corners). And, make sure you have ghost on; you know well in advance whether or not you'll be able to beat your best time.

Enjoy!

Oh, and, welcome to GTP! It's a fabulous place! :)

how does MT give u more control while entering corners?

i was doing the time trial on trial mountin, and i switched to MT, but it stayed on automatic. then when i went to play on simulation mode, it was MT again.

when i switched to MT for the TT, i used the option menu within the time trials. maybe i should try switching to MT in simulation mode.

You can control entering speed easier... granted, someone with an auto can do it just as well, but it's easier with a manual... basically, I downshift to the gear I think I'll need in a corner, which helps to slow the car and get ready for the corner (note: This can't really be done that well in real life... downshifting from 6th to 2nd would destroy the tranny! :p ). Aside from the corners though, a manual is good because you can control when to shift... When I did the Seattle course, and accidentally left the settings on auto, I went crazy, because the slushbox kept searching through the gears, which inevitably slows down acceleration, because each shift takes away some tenths of a second...

I use auto and i won everything (100% done)

all I have is three words for you: practice, practice, practice.

can anyone give me tips on the TT's. im over 90% of the game done, im currently on the formula GT, with only 1 other series to do in pro. i also have to mop up several enduros. ive completed rally and arcade too.

i was messing around one day, because i didnt feel like starting a 10 race series, so i gave the TT's a shot. i did the trial mountain with the miata, and got the 2nd place time. i still need to shave off a little less than 2 seconds. any advice? i dont have the PAL version, so i cant turn off ASM or TCS.

anyone have any advice besides "watch the demos"?
im sure i can get it by myself, with patience, but i want to hear what people say.

Without gettin in to Manual/Auto debates..... You just got to stick at it and give it 110%...:gcar:.. The rally ones I found difficult and if you manage complex string you deserve a medal, :gldmedal:

P.S I used Manual but if your not used to using the shift buttons it's best to stay in Auto until you can confidently use shift and get better times.... :D

so is the general consensus that better times can be had with MT?

im using a dualshock ps2 controller, too, btw.

Time Trials are in the Arcade mode but what's really the same to them is that they have the same difficulties as the license tests in Sim mode, but you can think of the TT's as even harder tests than all of the license tests combined together. That's why TTs are full of ****.

The main advantage with a manual tranny, for high powered cars, is that you can take very tight corners in a higher gear than the auto tranny and thus u don't get as much wheal spin ! Can't think of any other reason why I use manual ...

SaleenASL. In my runs through that TT I found that you never should shift into 2nd gear. Always stay in 3rd or higher. The other time gainer is to drift into the first tunnel. I was always losing time on this corner until I figured out how to break the back end loose and slightly spin the car to get a better line exiting the tunnel.

I also found that breaking the backend loose in the beginning of the corner at the end of the back straight (through the woods, over the hill...) helped gain time.

I stick with manual tranny as it allows you to use ALL of the gear range. I think you can do this by holding certain keys to prevent the auto from shifting into the next higher gear.

I use a DS2 controller, and both sticks.

Best of luck.

Yes, I believe Alta drives like I do - left analog steering, right analog gas/brake.
